Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

This is a Fujitsu floor mounted aircon unit. In either heating or cooling modes the 20amp circuit drops out almost immediately after the soft start switch activates. The on board 5 amp fuse is not blown. The fan inside this unit runs very briefly before the breaker lets go. The wall unit fan is unaffected if used by itself.

Hi Heatman 101.........sorry I had the model no number originally in the request heading.
    Its a Fujitsu AOT24RNCL.

Could you please possibly explain what the purpose of the 5 amp fuse is and whether its possible either the soft start switch or the start or run caps could be at fault ?

    regards Brian

Hi,
You did not list a model number...so I am just speculating a bit here...
It would seem as though the compressor is either locked rotor or the compressor motor is shorted...
When the power goes to the compressor the breaker then trips...
To get the compressor replaced will require a certified technician..
as the refrigerant will need to be pumped out and then replaced...

Yes, the 5 amp fuse would be for the control part of the unit...

has nothing to do with the compressor part...

The caps could be shorted, but not likely that they would blow the 20 amp breaker that quickly...usually they would sizzle and burn causing smoke and such...

When the breaker trips that quickly it is likely a compressor problem as I described..

Hi there, I have two Fujitsu DC Inverter split units to heat my flat (england). The temperatures have dropped significantly -2 and below. This causes the outlet pipes to freeze up and when the units...

Normal cool temp 23 to 25 and heat mode 29 to 31. And regrading defrosting your pipelines no need any tray. You can insulate with Armaflex tube which is mostly used for best insulation. Hope there won't be further water leak.

We just moved into a rental. It has the Fugitsu wall-mounted Air-conditioner model: ar-jw2 but, there was no manual left behind and we are trying to use the heat, however, it just blows cool air, we're not...

Look, if you select a temperature above ambient temperature, it will switch from cooling to heating.(assuming that the aircon has a heat pump. most do these days.) Just dont rush the aircon because every time you make a setting change, it takes a while to regulate.

Heat stripe and compressor on at the same time

Is this a wall mount thermostat or manual control unit? What is the model of the air conditioner? The only way that this is going to happen is that power is jumping somewhere to the heater coil from the cool side.

If it is a wall mount thermostat, the yellow wire is the cool mode (compressor on) and both the tan and blue wires are the fan mode. The orange wire is for the heat strip. So if you set the thermostat on High/Cool, then you should have power at the yellow and blue wires, not the orange. If the orange wire is energized, then there is a problem.

Remove the orange wire from the thermostat, try it again. If the breaker trips, then remove the wire from the connection at the relay board. Once again, try the unit. If the breaker trips due to the same problem, then it has to be a bad relay board. If the breaker does not trip this time, then you have problem with your wiring between your thermostat and the control unit.

Sounds like you don't have manual controls since it has a relay board.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

Airconditioner LG LSk181-N2 shutting off

Sounds like your aircon is stuck on heating mode. Or. The outdoor fan speed is affected by ambient temperature, or low refrigerant. In heating mode the indoor fan will come on for a while to sense temperature and will then wait for the outdoor unit to pump up pressure and build up heat.

Fault with 241C Aircon

This happen when you use the inverter for a long time and start getting old and over heat...try to power down the units and keep it for about an hour and then starft them again and try to install a small fan to keep them cool.

Fujitsu wall mounted air conditioner.

during Cooling and Dry modes, if the unit is used under conditions of
lower temperature (18C)  the heat-exchanger may freeze, leading to water leakage and other damage.
If the unit is used for long periods under high-humidity conditions, condensation may form on the surface of the indoor
unit, and drip onto the floor or other objects underneath. (About 80% or more)

Increase Temp to 20 and also run coil dry cycle,
