Question about Computers & Internet

I am trying to install a driver in an off-lease Dell Latitude laptop C610 (1/21/2002) for a wireless adapter and although I have tried several different brands only one supports the OS (Windows 98SE) a Rosewill RNX-N180UB which I have several installation CD's for but when it runs it says this OS is not supported?! Any suggestions the laptop does correcftly identify the adapter when attached but searching automatically online finds nothing and running the disc has the stated resuts. Suggestions? Thank you.

As stated this is a 2002 laptop. It doesn't need a driver for the laptop but does for the plugin adapter. This is running Windows 98SE. The Rosewill factory supplied CD-ROM states that it does support SE but installation fails saying it doesn't.

I apparently skipped over the line about which systems were supported due to the fact that two lines below that it says OS requirements are 98SE, ME, 2000 XP or VISTA. This makes no sense if only three of those Five systems are supported but I guess vthat is typical advertising. Time to upgrade sysems. Thank you though!

I formated my Dell latitude D600 and installed windows vista. As a result, the wireless lan stopped working. I have tried running different drivers to re-instal the wireless yet it has refused to...

Dell does not provide Vista drivers for the D600 because it is too old.
(See: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&os=WW1&osl=en&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PM_D600&catid=-1&impid=-1)

I see two options:
Purchase an add-on Vista-compatible wireless adapter (USB or PCMICIA).
Go back to XP. It will run better than Visa on the D600.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

Trying to connect internet and having problems.

Hi,
You have probably not installed the drivers required for the wireless adapter. Go to Dell website and search for your model's drivers. Look for wireless adapter drivers.
Please also check that your wireless adapter is on. Some laptops have a switch on the front side of the laptop to turn the wireless on or off. On other laptops is the combination of the Fn key and one of the F1-12 keys.

My dell latitude d600 is not recognizing any wireless connections. I believe the switch is at top of the keyboard and it doesn't seem to be working. Any advice

if it is not seeing any wireless networks, the wireless card may be defective, try having it tested, or check the device manager to make sure the drivers are installed correctly for the wireless network adapter

I can't activate my internal wireless card my laptop is dell latitude D800 helpp please!!!!!!!! xxxx

Try going to your control panel, click on system, open the system propertie's, in the system propertie's box click on the hardware tab, under hardware click on device manager, in the device manager find network adapter's, click the + next to adapter's, right click on the wireless network adapter then left click on propertie's, in the wirelss network adapter propertie's box check to see if it's enabled, in the device status window it should say this device is working properly, if it's still not working try using the troubleshoot tab to resolve the problem, or you may need use the wireless network setup wizard.

Dell latitude 820 wireless driver problem

Try a forced install. Unpack the driver into a folder, then update the driver through the device manager. Make sure you dont have the wrong driver. Most laptops nowadays have a lan driver and an ethernet driver (it may not directly say wireless driver). Use a program called Everest to confirm the wireless devices' chipset.

Laptop cant connect wirelessly

Hey Charlie, If you re-installed your operating system you will need to get the wireless modem driver from your dell disk. For some reason they have not included the drivers in the windows software. If you can't find it then you can go on to the Dell site(obviously on another computer) and enter your service tag and get your drivers that way.

I hope this helps
