Question about Vtech Communications VT 4121 4 Phone (VT-4121)

Open Question

My VTech VT 4121 has performed well for several years, except that occasionally the line would not open right away when I lifted the receiver or pushed the line buttons. I tried re-initializing but it didn't help. Today I noticed that the LCD screen was blank and the buttons were dead. I re-initialized again and it locked up at "Check date and calendar". I let it rest for a while and tried again, and now all I get is black boxes. Is something on the board kaput, or might there be a solution? I am technically quite handy and could repair it if pointed in the right direction.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Problems with C110 & A110 Vtech Mirage Dect Home phones

Have strangely got the same problem - about the same time you posted this, but intermitently. I have isolated that the problem is in fact the handset itself, not the base unit. I eliminated a problem with the base unit by a) registering a different DECT phone to it. - The base still works fine. b) Leaving the handset switched off for an hour or so (press and hold the "OK" botton to switch off / on); then whislt it was working, registering the handset to a different base (Base 2). And guess what, after 30 mins the "BASE 2" message started flashing on the faulty handset.
So, if you already have an A110 extension handset, make sure it's also registered to base 1 and maybe try to get just the handset repaired via VTECH. (or just buy a new handset if they are available).

SOURCE: Vtech 2656 cordless phone battery not charging

These phones seem to have this problem, I'm not sure a new battery will fix it. I have found a wierd fix that works for me, but I have no clue why.
1-take the battery out,
2-leave it out about 30 seconds,
3-then put it back in but leave the cover off,
4-place it back in the cradle however you can with the battery hanging out (I wrap it around),

Now it will charge much more thoroughly for some reason???

SOURCE: my vtech phones show NO LINE; MY OTHER PHONE WORKS

More than likely the phones base station (transmitter) is defective, this is a common failure on Vtech cordless phones, i have owned two and both failed the for the same reason. I also see this problem posted often for Vtech phones.

All of my handsets say phone in use and i cant get them to hang up

Please check the line input at the base, if the cord is damaged or the line has no dial tone, you'll receive that message in all headsets, you could test by connecting any basic wired phone to the same cord, if there's dial tone maybe you have a defective handsets base.

Are these phones secure to give credit card numbers over?

If your phone is operating at or above 2GHZ, as are most phones made in the last several years, the communications are out of the frequency of scanners, and the signal cannot be picked up more than about 30 feet from the phone. Secure? No, not in the purest sense of the term, but definitely safe.

Phone base set 'in use' led flashes when plugged into the jack

As is usually the case, a very simple solution in the end. Always check every thing even if the info supplied is from a qualified person. The phone came with the wall jack to base cord but it wasn't the origonal one so the phone thought the line was busy because it wasn't receiving any voltage supply as the plug into the base set had transposed 1 with 2 & 3 with 4. Damn I hate it when its that easy. I was talking to another mate about it and he said he had a similar fault to mine & he thought the cord was the issue & he was correct.

Thanks for your time

Brent.

The described problem is not a settings problem and is probably a internal malfunction. Try consulting Vtechs support center.
