Try cleaning the air filter. Odds are the motor is getting to hot and it has a safety that stops the motor from over working.

Hello susansteph5: My name is Roger and I will help you. The correct torque for the 3.4 gm engine is 37 ft. lb.+77 degrees. Unfortunately that is all the manual says.
