Hi,
Just want to help here. Maybe you are experiencing a saved password scenario wherein when you go to the Yahoo Mail login page, your Yahoo ID and password is already filled. If this is so, you can remove it. I believe this is a browser feature and nothing to do with Yahoo Mail. Since I don't know your browser, I'll just show instructions for Google Chrome (Chrome users might also be looking for this).
- Click the wrench bar and go to "Tools->Clear browsing data...". - To remove only the saved password, Uncheck all checkbox except "Clear saved passwords", then click "Clear browsing data" button.
Please note the solution above will remove all saved passwords. I you wan't to remove specific saved passwords (e.g. remove on Yahoo Mail but do saved passwords on Facebook), do the following:
- Click the "Wrench bar" and go to Options (or type chrome://settings/browser on the omnibox). - On the Options page, search for "password". On the Results page, click "Manage saved passwords...". - Remove the one you don't want to be saved. You can also add it to "Exceptions" so that when you login again to Yahoo Mail, Google Chrome will no longer offer to save it.

P.S. Using Google Chrome 10.0.648.204. Instructions above may change on future Chrome releases. Others may provide solutions for IE and Firefox.

You may unintentionally allowed the browser to remember your password on that particular computer when you first login your account.

If you are using IE browser, you can click Tools >> Internet Options >> General tab. Click Delete under browsing history and click Delete forms and Delete passwords.

I changed my password but still get security question and have to receive a code. How can I stop this ?

Usually, when you are using a different computer (and not the one that you usually use to access Yahoo Mail), or from a different location (e.g. you are in a different city, state or country than your home location), Yahoo knows that. And, it asks you for additional (security) information, to make sure it is YOU ... and not someone else who has stolen your account id and password.
So, the additional security questions that you'd provided is meant to protect you.
One way to avoid/skip this (being asked security question, etc.) is to use your (regular) computer all the time to access your Yahoo mail account ... e.g. an not different computers. Another way is to check off the box "Keep me signed in" when you log into your account.... and (depending on the period you'd selected in your Accounts profile), you will stay signed in ... for as long as you want (presumably on your own/regular computer) until you sign off.

Accounts are locked for 24 hours if you - or someone else - used the wrong password three or more times when attempting to sign into your account.

If you recently changed your password, Messenger will not automatically update it. You will need to switch to a desktop or laptop and update your new password in Messenger.

"To manually update Yahoo! Messenger with your new account password:

1. Open Yahoo! Messenger.
2. On the main Yahoo! Messenger sign in screen, clear out your Yahoo! ID:
- Select your Yahoo! ID in the Yahoo! ID box and press Delete on your keyboard.
3. Clear out your old password:
- Select your password in the Password box and press Delete on your keyboard.
4. Type your Yahoo! ID and new password in the Yahoo! ID and Password boxes.
5. Leave the Remember my ID & password checkbox checked, if you wish.
6. Click Sign In."

Please clear your cache and cookies before entering your new password. This will allow the system to update and recognize your password.

Passwords are case sensitive and must be typed exactly as it appears on file.

When signing in from a mobile device, please note that some mobile devices are set to automatically capitalize the first letter.

Sign in yahoo mail

One of the drawbacks of free email services is that they're easy to forget you have an account. Yahoo! Mail is just one of those free email services.

Say a few months go by, you've turned your attentions elsewhere, but you remembered you have a Yahoo! account and you want to check your email.

But after you log in, it informs you that your Yahoo! Mail is no longer active. What do you do?

Log in to your Yahoo! Mail account as usual.
A message will appear that says your account has been deactivated due to inactivity.

Reactivate your Yahoo! Mail by clicking on the "Reactivate Your Yahoo! Mail address" link that is located at the bottom of the page.

Sign into your account at least once a month to avoid automatic deactivation by Yahoo! in the future.

Locked out of my account

"Ymail," a division of Yahoo!, is not the same as the Yahoo! email service.
The main different revolves around the URL at the end of your email address.
Instead of "@yahoo.com" these addresses are written as "@ymail.com."
This slight variation might confuse you about how to log into your Ymail account.
The login instructions are similar to that of Yahoo! mail. Additionally, you can recover your ID or password if you have forgotten it.

Visit the Yahoo! login page by typing "ymail.com" into the URL bar.
This takes you to both the Yahoo! email sign in and the Ymail sign in.
Type your username into the "Yahoo! ID" box.
This is the part of your email address that comes before "@ymail.com."
Type in your password.
If your password doesn't work, or you don't remember it, choose the blue "I Can't Access My Account" from the bottom of the sign in box.
Choose the option that describes your situation best. Options include: "I Forgot My Password", "My Password Doesn't Work", "I Forgot My Yahoo! ID" and "My Account May Have Been Compromised". Press "Next."
Follow the on-screen directions to set a new password or recover your ID.

Yahoo!Mail Account is only valid for 3months (90 days). If your account is inactive for more than 90 days, your email account will automatically deleted from the Yahoo list. But if your active mail user, but you cant open your account, try this following steps: -Open your Yahoo!Messenger (if available) -Sign in, use your email username and password -When you sign in, click the mail icon in the Yahoo!Messenger smoothly.png
it will redirect you to your Yahoo!Mail account.. You can now use your Yahoo!Mail again..

In Yahoo log in mail, how do I uncheck permantely the automatic 'keep me sign in' feature? I tried internet explorer/tool/delete/password and it doesn't work

If you look up at the upper left after you log on to your mail you should see sign out. If you sign out you should be able to remove the checkmark. If the problem is that you told your computer to remember your password. You should be able to change your password and this time tell your computer not to remember the password when you sign in.
