SOURCE: Remington Electric Chain Saw, Model 106890-02

For anyone who purchased a Remington electric chain saw w/pole.
DESA, Bowling Green, Ky., who sold these saws and provided
warranties went out of business after 54 plus years last
Dec 2008. I was unable to contact (e-mail or phone) anybody
at this location. Phone system does not route to a human just
voice mail. My warranty expires in May 2009 (expired now already). The number I tried was 800-626-2237. Web site:
desatech.com. I found out about the company folding from a senior
buyer of the retail company which sold me the pole saw.

Mcculloch MS 1415 electric chain saw throws chains

I had a saw that did that and found my blade the chain runs in was bent. Another problem was the groove the chain goes in had a gouge that did not look like much but was just enough to throw the chain. Also check the drive sprocket and make sure it lines up with the groove in the blade the chain runs in.I replaced the blade and its ok now.

The main drive gear is slipping. This is caused by etiher worn teeth or worn bearings. If you pass the model number I can show you a diagram of where to look and what part or parts that have most likely failed. The drive gear is the weakest link but the motor can be shifting in the housing away from the drive gear. It only takes a bit less than 1/8 inch side play. The model number will be similar to this 358.341160

Most likely it is item 26 of this diagram:

This example is for model 358.381160

I have a McCulloch MS1415 electric Chain saw, and I can 't find the manual. What kind of oil goes in the saw, and how much?

There is bar and chain oil for lubricating the chain. Sometimes it comes in a small little bottle, but I have also purchased it in one quart size bottles also.

I have a Troy Built electric chain saw that has ceased to function, The motor runs strongly but the chain will not move. hat do I do?

Does the sprocket drive shaft turn when the sprocket does not? If so, look for broken coupling between the shaft and the sprocket. If the output shaft doesn't turn, then suspect a damaged (probably plastic) gear within the gearbox. Hope this helps!

Chain loose

Hi there,

Chainsaw bars get loose all the time. This can create a dangerous situation.

Tightening the chain is done through the positioning of the bar. The further away from the drive gear it extends, the tighter the chain is.

The are usually two nuts holding the bar on. These need to be loosened slightly to allow the bar movement.

Depending on your model there may be a guard over them. Remove it.

Once the nuts are loose, locate the tensioning screw. It will be relatively small, located adjacent to and facing parallel to the bar.

This screw is attached to a metal lip that in turn is attached to the bar. The screw remains in one place while the lip moves up down.

Start spinning. Keep going until the chain is tight.

Tighten the Bar Nuts, replace the guard if necessary.

Now go slice some wood.

Best regards
Mike
