Question about Samsung SMH7178STD Microwave Oven

Samsung MW SMH7178STD Not Heating

Wilbur,
Could you elaborate on the "no heat" issue? My Samsung SMH7178STD is not heating, everything else seems to be working as normal, including keyboard and fan. Does this sound like the magnetron? Can I replace this myself? I'm pretty handy, even having disassembled a microwave before (found the source of the problem to be a tree frog that got onto the circuit board and fried himself!).

Thanks,
Gordy

I have this same problem. Everything operates like normal, except tonight it just stopped heating anything. I've changed power levels, tried defrost, etc, but nothing gets heat.

Do the inside light and turntable come on when you try to cook?

Is it making any unusual noise or is it louder or quieter than normal?

I would think it may be a failure of the cook relay on the board, since the noise is quieter.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

Sorry i can't help more. This will need troubleshooting.

I have a samsung smh7177ste/be microwave that will not heat. Every thing seems to be working as normal

The problem is one of three things, the magnetron "common issue" or the high voltage capacitor and diode can be a factor, the above mentioned work together to heat food. Depending on the nature of the repair, parts and labor can run as high as a new microwave oven.

My delonghi 800w microwave oven works but does not heat up food

If your handy with getting the cover off and looking inside... check the obvious.
I suspect :
fuse
thermister
relay
If both microwave and Heating elements dont work, then I will assume the magnetron is ok, ans we are dealing with a high voltage issue... and you will need at best... a volt meter and or neon troublelight...
moust appliances have a simple schematic inside... I would start with the heating element first... trace wiring back to circuit board... usually one side of the heating element is connected to the white wire (neutral) and live (Hot) side is controlled thru the circuit board... so finding the neutral should be easy... then trace with neon light or voltmeter...

I know easy for me to say... but with everything else working... it doesnt seem to be the microprocessor that controlls the unit...

Emerson MW 8119 runs everything but does not cook?

your magnetron is the heating source and that is why it is not heating. may not cost to repair mag is about 100.00 for the part.

Samsung SMH7178STD microwave fan stopped working

It looks like the part of your computer board on microwave which responsible for controlling light and fan stop working. In this case you have to replace computer board.
