My tomtom will not go to main menu

try reseting the devices by pressing the reset button on the base of the device. ise a needle or such like into reset recess.
this will not delete anything you have added or your saved destiatons etc but may resolve the problem

if this doens not work and no other control such as volume etcis working this would indicate your touch screen is defective.

I hope this was helpful.

HOW DO I TURN UP THE VOLUME

Users will continually need to quickly change the volume on a TOMTOM units, depending on the loudness of traffic noise, the radio or conversations. Although there are no external volume controls, the volume on the ONE can be easily accessed on screen by touching the bottom left corner of the map display. Once the volume controller appears you just slide your finger to increase or decrease volume. We found the audio levels a little softer on this unit and had to set the volume to around 60% or 70% in order to clearly hear it.

Even with the volume up, I can't hear anything...

Its a hardware problem with your TOMTOM.

Its internal circuit amplifier has always such voice problems.
Please use their Customer Services & tell that its a amplifier problem & they will guide you through steps to change your handset.

GARMIN C340 VOLUME CONTROL

I had the same issue. My C340 fell of the dash and the volume control (potentiometer) broke off and was rattling inside the case. I tried to find a replacement (103B stamped on the pot) but have not been able to find one. I tried a mini 10K ohm pot from Radio Shack, but the posts were not properly positioned for the circuit board inside the Garmin.

I took the easy way (for now) and simply strapped the two control points together with a piece of wire giving me maximum volume. Orient the circuit board with the missing volume control to at the bottom right. The control mounts with 5 points, two on the right edge of the board are simply physical mounts. There are three other connection points just to the left in a slight arc. The top and bottom point have holes to place the legs of the pot. The broken off legs may still be in these holes. Solder a piece of wire between the top and bottom points. Be careful since the solder pads (to the left of the holes are very delicate.

Not an elegant filx, but you get the voice back.

Most likely there is a cold solder connection at the contacts of the volume control, or there is a break on the circuit board and you are pushing pressure to join the break, or there are other types of cold solder connections, or the volume control itself is defective.
