Hi and welcome to FixYa I am Kelly.
Water in the bottom of the unit is a sign of drain problems that are usually external to the dishwasher. You probably have noticed cloudy or spotted dishes post cycle lately also. Since I suspect a drain problem here is what you should do:

  • Start at the sink connection and remove the hose. Then clean out the port at the sink or garbage disposal connection. Reconnect the hose. (Clogged garbage disposal ports are the 2nd highest reason for dishwasher drainage problems.)
  • Next if you have an Air-Gap installed pull off the upper/outer cover and NOTE the position of the internal cap and nut. The cap with the inner inverted U will only install correctly in one position. Remove the nut and lift off the inner inverted U cap. (This is were most clogs are found.) Clean out any debris found. Use a flash light and inspect the lower outlet hose port for obstructions. Remove the lower outlet hose to the sink / garbage disposal connection if necessary to clean the outlet port.
  • Lastly... If after doing the above and you still have water in the dishwasher post drain cycle then TURN OFF POWER to the dishwasher and remove the lower kick panel. Then remove the drain hose from the pump and inspect the port for obstructions. Clean as necessary. Re-install the removed hoses. (Check all) Install the lower kick panel.
TURN ON POWER and test the drain cycle after filling with water. This should make it work properly again unless there is a problem with the pump impeller blades or something inside the sump housing blocking the drain port. If you have done all of the above and you still have the same water in the sump post drain cycle problem... Just respond here and I will explain what to do next.

NOTE: If you respond for any reason PLEASE include your model number so I can include any available diagrams to help you in my next response.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Remove the panel at the base of unit below door you should find the tech sheet which will tell you how to place unit into diagnostic, on the spray arms make sure the small holes are clean below the lower spray arm is a screen make sure it is clean not covered or cake with calcium build up if it clogged water cannot pass thru to enter the wash pump you can also remove the screws to take the upper halve apart to inspect the wash pump for any obstruction it is possible you could have a bad motor control or both you didn't mention after the unit fills do you hear the wash pump hum or click

Dishwasher Not washiig properly suspect upper spray arm is

the most common problem is low water pressure.when you start the dishwasher check the amonut of water in the bottom of the dishwasher there should be about an inch of water in the bottom.
if needed add some more water to the unit and see what happens this can determine if the fill valve is bad,or the control board.if the unit washes change the fill valve or check your water pressure,if there is no change then the main wash motor needs to be change because it is not putting enough water through the system to properly wash.

The top does not wash and the bottom some what works. no water pressure

First thing to check is your in coming water pressure and temp. The internal water temp has to be at least 120 degrees to properly clean the dishes.

Second after the machine has stopped filling with water open the door and look at the water level in side you should have 1/2" to 1" of water and it should be hot.

Third if there is not that much water add a few cup fulls off water unit the whole bottom of dishwasher is covered in water. Then start your machine and let it go through a cycle.

If your unit cleans the dishes then you may need to replace the water fill valve,if it does not clean the dishes and the results are the same you need to replace your main wash motor.Remember water temp has to be 120 degrees.

I hope this helps with your dishwasher and you get it fixed fast.

We had the small leak problem. It was a cut in the bellows at the door. Lower side. We could see it if we just spread the gasket just inside the door.
