It is a Drolet Eco 45 Pellet shove .... The flame is dull and the window is very black soot covered ... Thank you for your input

As with most pellet or wood stoves, what you described is not uncommon. Especially, with pellet stoves. Incomplete combustion of the pellets , due to inadequate fresh intake or clogged vent stack or chimney is usually the culprit. Also, you can't rule out and change in the brand of pellets that you're using. As, no two pellet manufacturers make their pellets the same way. Your stove may need to be tweaked to burn this brand of pellets efficiently. If your stove is of a recent vintage, it probably has either an "Air Wash System" or a Catalytic Converter to help it maintain current EPA Standards for emissions and efficiency. If the stove is not burning clean and efficiently like it should, the Air Wash System or the Catalytic Converter cannot function properly. Causing the glass to soot up and the flame is dull due to a lack of sufficient fresh air intake.

Hope this helps you to continue to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

Black soot

Soot is caused by a few things in gas appliances. Propane even more so. Lack of combustion air is usually the culprit. In propane fired equipment orifice alignment, high pressure or the wrong burner orifice can cause yellow flames the result in soot build up. You need to find the culprit. Best to have a service tech check it out and clean it. when you know what to look for it can be easily fixed.

How tp clean black soot off bottom of turkey pot

If you are cooking with propane or natural gas, you may need a new regulator for your range, the black soot is most likely too much gas being used to make the flame. But, as for the soot on the bottom of your pans, try letting the pan soak in a mixture of baking soda and water, then attack it with a brillo pad. Hope this helps!

I noticed soot in my lp gas oven that had been clean. concerned when it started to ruin my food I decided to run the self cleaning cycle again. My whole house filled with toxic soot. My eyes were on fire...

Normally soot is from a range that hasn't been converted for the gas type, like natural or propane. It may be set up for natural when you're on propane or visa versa. Has this range ever worked properly without sooting?

Hi there my home is about 3 years old. i have noteced black dust on the doors window frames basically everywhere. i don't know why.

Does this unit have an blower? If so there is no filter and this can happen.
Direct vent means no open flame in the house but you might still have a combustion problem. Open the front cover and check for black soot. Also check outside at the flue for soot. If so then you need to get this thing checked. Also make sure the little door for the pilot is closed. May have a improper install here if only 3-years.

Gas dryer leaves black grease spots on clothes

the soot is coming from the flame at the gas heater box the drier needs to be converted to propane the flame is too large without the conversion kit installed and thus creates soot at the vent. contact a local repair place for this one it can be tricky.

The burners are shot. The heavy metal tubes with the holes that the burner flame comes out of, has burnt through. Instead of little rows of holes, there is at least one large hole in it. Unless someone has changed the gas>air mixture, you need new burners.
