Hold the home and power key for 30 secs until it reboots, then let go of the power key and continue to hold the home key WHILE pluggin it into itunes, once it finds your phone in recovery mode it should recover the device an update it.

Accidentally updated to version 4.1 firmware 5.14.I cant use for call, text and cant also sync to itunes? what will i do? no available unlock application for this version

if your previous iOS load was jailbroken, and your SHSH was saved on the Cydia Server, download tiny umbrella, and recurse back to the previous iOS Firmware that you have a saved SHSH for.
TinyUmbrella will tell you if sauriks server has your SHSH cached and will set up your itunes host file to allow you to bypass the code signature server.
as for the baseband, usually you are stuck where you are.

Iphone scren just displays connection cord pointing up towards itunes icon

Yes, that means you must connect your iPhone to a computer and manage it over iTunes (also in your computer).
If you must restore, try this:

Go to this website: http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

you will see there 2 selections: (1) iPod; and (2) iPhone / iPod touch.

Focus on iPhone / iPod touch and select iPhone 3G (3.1.2/7D11) or iPhone 3G S (3.1.2/7D11) - depending on whether your device is a 3G or a 3G S - and then click download. Tip: it's better if you save it on your desktop.

After the download is finished, open iTunes from your computer, and select your device. You should see the restore button there but before you click it, you must first, hold Alt (or Option) if your using a Mac, or CTRL if your using Windows, once your already holding the appropriate buttons, click restore. This will let you choose what software version you want to restore in your iPhone. So, you must select the one that you just downloaded and click restore.

Now, let me just tell you that "baking up" actually means, creating a back up. It doesn't mean that your iPhone is refusing or moving back. So when you think your iPhone is stuck, just wait a little longer, I mean, do other stuff first and return to your iPhone after 5 or more minutes. Alright...

That should do the trick. Goodluck..

All main menu icons dissapeared while installing an app from cydi

I would do a full reset on the iphone which you can get to by going to the settings and scroll to the bottom and it should give you a reset option this will delete everything but assuming you make a backup whilst in itunes you should be able to re synch it as far as contacts and anything else you want from your itunes afterwards.

Got unlocked iphone, tried to restore factory settings now its stuck on bitten pineapple...any help plz just got this phone?

Hi,
Here u can follow the steps

Step 1: Make sure you have downloaded the latest version of iTunes if you haven’t already. Download iTunes 8.2 from the link given below.
Step 2: Now connect your iPhone with your PC. You must connect it to a single usb port on the backside of your computer. Do not use any usb hub or the ports in the front as this could cause an error during update process.
Step 3: Start iTunes 8.2. Sync your iPhone with your PC so that iTunes backs-up all your important data including settings, apps, music, contacts and photos.
Step 4: You will now have to download a custom cooked firmware for your iPhone version (2G or 3G). I can’t post the download links for these files for the reasons you all know very well. Just Google “iPhone 2G Custom 3.0” (If you are using iPhone 2G) or “iPhone 3G Custom 3.0” (If you are using iPhone 3G) and use one of the torrent links to download the custom created .ipsw file.
Step 5: Once you have downloaded the required .ipsw file, Copy/Paste it into this location:
“C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\” (Windows 7)
“C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\” (Windows Vista)
“C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Update\” (Windows XP)
Step 6: Restart iTunes. You will now be prompted to install this firmware you just download. Just close this prompt dialog by clicking on “x” from the top right-most corner of the window.

Step 7: Now you will have to restore your iPhone to this custom firmware 3.0 that you just downloaded. Click on your phone from the sidebar in iTunes to get to this screen as shown in the screenshot below:
capture2_thumb.png
Now press and hold left “Shift” button on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” (Not “Update) button in the iTunes and then release the “Shift” button.

This will make iTunes prompt you to select the location for your downloaded custom firmware 3.0. Select the downloaded .ipsw file and click on “Open”.
Step 8: Now sit back and enjoy as iTunes does the rest for you. This will involve a series of automated steps some of which are highlighted below:
asd.pngafasf.pngggg.png
Don’t do anything silly at this point. Just wait while iTunes installs the new firmware 3.0 on your iPhone. Your iPhone screen at this point will be showing a progress bar indicating installation progress. After the installation is done, iPhone will restart automatically and you should now have a fully unlocked and jailbroken iPhone 2G. iPhone 3G on the hand will only be jailbroken, not unlocked. iPhone 3G users will have to wait for Dev-Team to release ultrasn0w on Cydia in order to unlock their phones.
Step 9: Once you are done with the unlocking and jailbreak process. You can now restore all your settings, apps, music, contacts and photos to the newly installed firmware version 3.0 by restoring the backup that you made in Step 3 from iTunes.

Feel free to ask me any question here should you run into any problem during the update process.

Error 1604 and Kernel Panic

confirm that your firmware is compatable with your iphone.
if you have a 2G the firmware should start with 1.1 if you have a 3G the firmware should start with 1.2
apparently unlocked or jailbroken phones with the wrong firmware will brick in this manner.
not to worry, your not the only one.
do a web search for error 1604 and you will see solutions such as this below.

  • Problem: I cant restore my custom firmware. I just get error 6, 1, 2, (something low).
Solution: This has multiple causes. Generally, you are not in DFU mode. See DFU guide. Winpwn solution after ruling out the above: Delete the device file (x12220000_4_Recovery.ipsw) in your iTunes folder. (Search for the file). This can also be caused by using the incorrect firmware image (a 3g on a 2g for example).
    ———————
  • Problem: I am in DFU mode and I just get error 1604, 1602, 1601 (some 160x). I am pulling my hair out! What do I do?!
Solution: This one sucks. There’s no single answer for it. Here are some possible suggestions:
    • Validate you are using the correct firmware. You can get this if you are using an incompatible firmware (3g for 2g for example).
    • Restart your computer and try again.
    • Try another computer
    • Try switching USB ports
    • Uninstall and reinstall iTunes 7.7
If you are not able to get out of DFU mode even after trying one of the above fixes, click here to follow the comments on BigBoss’s website.

Iphone 3g complete crash!

The only thing I can think, is that you got hold of a bad package cause my iphone edge did the same thing. When restoring make sure to let iTunes download the firmware so that you dont get an uncompatable version of firmware and get a head splitting head ache like i did, i downloaded the 3G firmware off the net only to relized almost three hours later that that version of the 3.0 firmware cant be loaded on the edge.
