You mean alternator will not charge the battery, and the battery won't hold a charge? could be. there are a lot of relays under the dash. many connections some of which may have been disturbed.

Tip

Excellent tip! I took it a step further... Ordered a new battery, however it...

Your battery has been depleted past a chargable state.  This is a due to a bad design in the phone that doesn't monitor the battery power state well enough.  It actually allows the battery to be taken under the minimum amount needed to recharge the battery.

You can fix this, but do so at your own risk.

You can simply purchase a new battery, that will work, just been sure not to let it deplete the battery totally anymore.

Now, on to the fix

-Take out the battery.
-Get any usb cable you can find sitting around. (any usb wire will do, an old printer cable, anything with a usb end that can plug into your computer)
-cut one end of the plug off. You need to leave the side on that connects to your computer. Cut off the side that plugs into a device (printer, camera, web cam, etc)
-Strip the rubber off the wire and expose the wires inside.
-Separate the wires from each other. You will only be using the BLACK and RED wires.
-strip the very end of the black and red wires carefully using a wire cutter exposing the metal wire inside the red and black covering.
-Plug in your home made battery charger to your computer. Careful not to touch any exposed metal, as it will give you a small shock.
****WARNING****
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ALLOW THE RED AND BLACK WIRE TO TOUCH EACH OTHER
****WARNING****

-now carefully hold the black wire to the negative terminal on the battery (it should be noted with a black circle with a - in the middle). Then touch the red wire to the positive terminal (it will be noted with a red circle with a + in the middle).

Hold the 2 wires there for 20 seconds. Then quickly plug the battery back into the phone, and then plug it into a regular charger. Give it little bit of time, if you've done everything correctly the charge light should come on.

I had to repeat the last step again to get the light to turn on indicating it was charging.

You must not hold the wires to the battery for too long, 20 seconds should do it. You can overload a battery with this trick and actually make it explode if you hold it there too long. You are well within the few minutes needed to detonate the battery due to overcharging by sticking very strictly to 20 seconds.

Just be careful and you'll be fine.

One you get a charge light give it a few minutes in the off position, then try powering up the device and keep it plugged in until you get 100% charge.

Good luck,

Peter

Electrical problem

I suspect a resistive ground between negative battery post and chassis...If you have an ohmmeter and a wee bit of knowledge on its use perform the following test...Set meter to read X- 10...Engine off...Place one lead on the center of the negative battery post...The other on bare metal of fender...You must read close to zero ohms...while holding the lead on battery negative post place the other on bare metal of engine block...Must read close to zero ohms...If you read 500 to 2000 ohms you have located the fault...Run test and give results...saailer

When first purchased the scooter was charged but barely used for approx. 3 months. when we began using it regularly the first two charges lasted for a weeks use each. from then on the red charge light goes...

Well if the scooter wasn't charged regularly while it sat for 3 months then the batteries are probably weak and will need to be replaced. These smaller batteries will not tolerate not being charged regularly and unfortunately one or both batteries has gotten weaker and does not hold a charge like it should when new. Sorry i can't give you a better answer Remember to charge the new batteries before use and if you are not using the scooter regularly (daily) always put up fully charged and charge at least once a week. If you use it daily charge the scooter when you go to bed and unplug when you get up in the morning. If you do this you should get good use out of your batteries. Hope this helps

1991 Park Avenue: new battiery will not hold charge...

Check the following to see if your cars electrical system is causing a power drain.

*Make sure all headlights and interior lights, and accessories are off when vehicle is not in use.

*Have your alternator professionally tested to make sure the built in power regulator is not going bad. Also check that the alternator is putting out a proper charge during vehicle operation. (Use a digital multimeter, touch the test leads to the battery terminals while the car is running RED to positive+ and BLACK to negative-, being careful you don't cross the two and never let positive and negative touch. Multimeter should read 14 volts DC with the car running. If it reads under 14 volts, replace the alternator.

*Check for a bad grounding wire (usually the negative battery cable), if it's cracked, frayed, or bare wire is exposed replace it right away. It can drain the battery if the bare wire touches the metal of the vehicle.

* If your car is equipped with the twilight sentinel (automatic headlight feature) shut it off manually when your done using your car for the day. If the twilight sentinel is going bad, it can draw battery power even if the headlights are off.

*Have a test performed to make sure you don't have a faulty ignition switch. This can draw power even with the ignition key off.

*If all of the above test good, you likely have defective battery. Replace battery. Feel free to contact me if problems persist.

Good Luck!

Won't hold a charge

what rechargeable batteries are you using and what's your method of charging?

If your using a dock for charging - make sure you have the battery pack kodak kaa2hr otherwise the dock won't charge it

if you're using a separate charger - it's ok to use other AA ni-mh

please check the age of your batteries as well.. batts, even rechargeable eventually wear out - they can last up to 300 charging cycles and a year or a little more than that is enough for you consider buying a new set

if you say that you barely use the cam, batteries still deteriorate through time
