Question about Norelco 8891XL Electric Shaver

1 Answer

My Norelco Spectra 8891xl shave will charge to approximately 56 minutes, but will only shave for about 5 minutes, it then goes to 0. I assume that the battery is shot. Can I replace the battery, and what would be the price for the new battery?

Batteries need replaced. You will find the correct battery type for model 8883XL at shaveroutlet.com. See link below. You will need to order two

To replace, you will need to remove the back cover by removing the two screws. You may need to extend the long hair trimmer to get to the second screw. Take off back cover to access inside. You can unsolder the batteries from the circuit board but for easier replacement, it is sometimes suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries with small needle nose pliers rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

If you are not able to do this yourself, you can have shaveroutlet.com do it for you. See link below

Red light at bottom flashes even when razor ids fully charged. What can causrethis?

When the battery is almost empty (when there are only 5 or fewer shaving minutes left), the battery symbol lights up red.

Make sure that the battery does not have a memory effect. What I suggest is taking the shaving head unit off and running the shaver till empty, then recharging. Check if the red light is still flashing.

There's also a head indicator at the bottom of some shavers.

To remind you to replace the shaving unit, the shaving unit symbol flashes (all types) and you hear a beep when you switch off the shaver (RQ1090 only). This happens at the end of 7 successive shaves to remind you to replace the shaving unit.

Without knowing what model you have it's difficult to diagnose further.

It sounds like you need a new "head holder". These often wear out over time and fall apart. You will find a replacement at shaveroutlet.com. See link below.
