Question about ASUS Computers & Internet
There have been some problems with Windows 7 and older hardware compatability and software updates. From what I understand Win 7 has included alot of usable drivers for older systems through "device manager" Click on "start", click on :control panel". Find "device manager", right click on, open, and click continue. Click on the box with+ next to "sound audio and game controllers" Your device should be in a drop down(Realtek ALC883) HD audio. Right click on this and in the list you should see "disable". If you see "enable" click on that and exit. Right click on it and click on "properties". you should see "this device is working properly". Click on the "driver" tab and click on "update driver" then click on "automatically search for...". When fifnished., exit. In your desktop you should see a speaker icon in your taskbar at lower right of your screen. Right click on it and click on "open sound mixer" and adjust volume.

You will need a new starter rebuilt ect. to replace the one you currently have that is defective. you sound like you are spinning the starter motor but the starter bendix is no longer engaging the flexplate/flywheel on the engine.
