To reset an ipod you flip the hold switch on the back off then hold the middle button and play/pause button at then same time until you see the apple logo. a reset is the only thing you can do besides letting the battery drain. (this happened to me also i suspected a certain song of causing it if it happens again try to recall the song playing) also i would clear the ipods music and re-sync it
