Going into hibernation likely because your battery level has fallen below a certain level set in your power manager which caused hibernation to be invoked. To get out of hibernation, you need to plug in your AC adapter and connect it to the notebook to recharge its battery for at least 10 minutes or more then press any key. If there is still no activity, then press and hold the power switch down for a few seconds which should force a power on.

Usually you must press power button, but if not back on try to remove battery and try after 30 sec to power on again.

How to Use Shutdown, Sleep, Hibernate Modes for my Laptop?

Shutdown is safer, close all program.
Hibernate is good for long period (e.g. stop during the night). All the data will be saved on the HD.
Suspend is similar to Hibernate mode, but data are copied to the RAM, so if you aren't conneted wtih power cable and battery goin to 0%, you will lost your work that aren't saved.

When I open the notebook the power comes on then shuts off. when I open the note book all the way up it stays on

Click "Start."
Click "Control Panel."
Click "Power Options."
Click the "Change What Closing the Lid Does" hyperlink on the left side of the screen.
Click the "Closing the Lid" drop-down menu. Select either "Sleep," "Hibernate" or "Do Nothing." All three of these options will stop your Acer laptop from shutting down completely when you close the lid. Click "OK" to save changes.

I have no hibernate in my powermanagement option help

Usually that is because you did a disk clean up and actually removed that option. Windows for some reason thinks hibernate is not needed and will remove it when you run disk clean up. Simply restore it from the last time you ran disk clean up and it should be back.

Battery was running out on my Acer mini book, hibernated and turned of, tried to turn it on nothing happened., used ac adaptor....still nothing

take battery out, unplug ac adapter. Wait one minute. leave battery out. Plug in ac adapter and turn on laptop. Once it turns back on. Shut down laptop and put battery back in. Now you should be able to turn laptop on with or without battery.

The option for hibernating just disappeared. Somebody told me that it had to do with the video card. I have an hp Pavilion dv2000,Vista OS. I can't find the drivers for the video card, so I can't reinstall...

the disk clean up in vista will have included a large file for hibernate file cleaner if selected to be removed hibernate is disabled

re-enable hibernate if this has happened:

How to enable hibernate option in windows vista for those of you who mistakenly deleted your hibernation file using disk clean up, to re-enable your deleted hibernation file, click the start menu and then go to all programs - accessories - Command Prompt. Right-click command prompt and select "run as administrator".

When Command prompt has opened, enter the following

powercfg /hibernate on (note the space between powercfg and /) so it's not powercfg/hibernate on or powercfg/hibernateon it is powercfg /hibernate on

This should re-enable hibernation
