How do you put the Denon DBP-4010 into service mode?

Appears to be a software problem. Unfortunately, some blu-ray players contain software that expires, requiring you to repurchase newer, more expensive software from the manufacturer in order to continue to play blu-ray discs. Check your software for the player. No freeware blu-ray software out there.

Go into the menu and look for software/firmware upgrade

That is the (costly) heart and soul of the dvd player! Only chance, go to dvd players throughout Craigslists USA and find a used one.
Here are 8 from Craigslist DFW, going for around $15-25 each. Not Denon but its a start!

I have the same player, it was doing the same thing. The reason is because it was faulty, so I sent it back and got it repaired. It played some discs with no problem, but made a noise and in a lot of cases couldn't continue past a specific chapter on the disc.
