SOURCE: mantis tiller 2 cycle seemed as if it was running out of gas

Check fuel filter and lines, if thay are good I would get a carb kit and set the adjustment screws at 1 turn out from lightley seated to start. Don't lean high speed screw too much.
You might check muffler & cylinder port for carbon first.

Tiller will not continue to run. It has good spark. It will start if primed through the carburator but once the prime burns off it dies.

If fuel sits in the gas tank 3 months, the fuel deteriorates and it gums up the filter in the tank. You need to put stabil in the tank. This has happened to me over and over. It is best to dump out the gasoline if you don't use the tiller within one month. Some people who use chain saws commercially dump all the gas out every day and start over the next day. The symptoms are the tiller won't run at high speed at first, then as it gums up more
it won't run even at low speed, then becomes hard to start.
The gum is hard to see. Pull out the gas line to get to the filter and change the filter. Filters are only 3 or 4 dollars at hardware stores.

DRAINED GAS FOR WINTER IN CRAFTASMAN REAR TINE TILLER. PUT GAS IN WOULDN'T START. SO PUT GAS IN CARBURETOR, WOULD START BUT DIED AS SOON AS USED UP GAS. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES. SAME THING. IT'S LIKE IT ISN'T...

You drained the fuel but sounds like you did not run fuel out of carb. the carb is probably just clogged either take off carb and clean thoroughly or just try to take off the screw on the float bowl and clean it there are little holes on it that are most likely plugged up. Good Luck...

Will run with full choke on but once i turn choke off it dies

The carb jets are clogged, it will have to be removed and soaked in carb cleaner. Sometimes that will not work either, and the carb will have to be replaced. Reason is, some of the carb passages are as fine as a human hair, so it's hard to get gunk and bad/dried gas deposits out.

You could try running something called Sea Foam (mixed in the gas)from Walmart through the tiller for a while, that MAY help somewhat.

Get your motor running

Check to see if the gas cap is clogged. If the gas cap is clogged, it will keep the carburetor from getting the proper gas flow. Try this: The next time it begins to die, loosen the gas cap. It should begin to run again. If it begins to run again, then you know it's the gas cap.

Was running then died

I would check your oil level first, they have safety stops when oil level is low. Change the oil while you're at it if it hasn't been done for a while, if it still doesn't work, empty the gas in the tank including the one in the carburettor float housing, spray some carburretor cleaner while you're at it, and put fresh gas in the tank.

Getting no fuel to engine

Not sure which engine you have, but it sounds like a typical 'need to clean/ repair carburetor' problem. It will probably start up and die the same if you squirt gas in the carb. For whatever reason, varnish, trash, water, the gas is not being pulled up in the carb to keep running. Dwain
