This problem is generally seen when messages get stored on the sim card. generally sim cards have space for 20-30 msgs before phone memory gets occupied. I would recommend you to keep your sim card memory full always (as in keep some msgs permanently on the sim without deleting). To check memory usage, go to main menu-> messages -> memory status-> text messages (from top right drop down). The second row shows sim card memory status

The msg alert tone depends on the current sound profile of your phone (like normal, silent, driving etc). 1. Go to main menu -> settings -> phone profiles. You should find all the profiles available in the phone. For example, we will change the msg alert tone for 'normal'. 2. Tap on the box with the double arrow (>>) symbol next to normal. You should enter a screen saying call alert type, voice call ringtone etc. 3. There is a drop down menu at the top right side of the screen. Tap that and select 'new messages'. 4. 'message alert type' should be melody or vibration & melody, depending on your preference. 5. now select 'message alert tone'. The phone has a number of tones already stored. Select one of these. 6. Or select 'sounds' at bottom right and browse to any file you want to set as message alert tone instead.. 7. Save and exit !!

hi all you need to do is contact your service provider and ask them to send you the latest mms settings they wont charge for this and they will send them via text message. this will then update your phone to the correct settings and you will be able to send and receive what ever you like
let me know if you need further assistance ok
plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks
Try checking the SMSC (Message Center Number) number configured on your phone. If the Message Centre number is not configured or wrong then you will not be able to send..but you can receive.
Check... is there any setting called Inbox Setup in Message menu, then Text msg Setup -> Use GPRS -> NO
