Open the front cover. Below the control panel and in the middle of the copier held in by a black phillips head screw. Release the developer by rotating the blue handle i believe clockwise. Remove the screw and pull out the drum. Replace the drum and making sure the drum goes on the drum guides. If you've not done this before you may want to practice on the old drum until comfortable doing it. While at it you may want to clean the **** glass just above the drum. Tends to get toner on it and may help with image quality. Good Luck.

first, did you install complete Canon original drum unit or just replaced with not genuine low quality drum?
Maybe the problem is in bad quality of drum.
In original drum unit you get whole unit with new drum, blade and charge roller.

Second, you should inspect the developing cylinder, he is magnetic and in some cases something like paper clip or other metal dirt can stuck on it and cause breakage or damage of drum surface.
I recomend you to remove the toner unit, vacume it and check for foreign materials, also rotate the developing cylinder and look for damages or foreign materials.

Hope that something of this will help!

Vertical lines printing on one side of the page

9 times out of 10 this is coming from one of the two drum (photoconductor) units. Just open the right side door, release the waste toner box, and remove the 2 drum units. The larger one is the color drum unit and the smaller one is the black. Look down thru the slot in the top of the unit (3 slots in the color drum) and look at the green colored drum surface. On one end or the other you should be able to see the same lines on the drum surface that you are seeing on the paper. One of the 2 drum units should have the lines and that will tell you which one will need to be replaced. Hopefully it will be the black drum unit as they are relatively cheap. The color ones are $350 to $400
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Brother hl1435 drum light on

The printing drum in your unit needs to be replaced. The drun is the unit your toner goes into. It has a printing life of about 20,000 pages give or take a few. When it gets near its end the light goes on to tell you to get a replacement drum. You can get them from Office Depot for $139.00 or we can get you one for $69.00 plus shipping. The drum number is DR-400

I hope this helps,
