Question about Kodak Easyshare C813 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I took a short video of my nieces' wedding. When I played it on the camera, there was no sound. I am having the video put on a DVD at a professional camera shop. Should there be sound?

I have the same camera and love it, although there are a few glitches. I have had problems with sound recording when 1.) my memory card was not capable of holding that much data, or 2.) I forgot to go to the 'Setup" menu when I had the camera in the video mode. If the camera sounds selection is in the 'off'' mode, you will not have sounds recorded. If neither of these issues is the culprit, then you MAY have sound on the memory, and just don't have it loud enough to hear easily. Sometimes this can be fixed by running the video through a sound editor, AFTER BACKING IT UP somewhere else! Remember, all data is only as good as your storage habits. Congratulations on the marriage, I am getting married in May!

There is definitely a solution for this but you must use a computer to recover the information on that disc. It also depends on the software you are using to recover such information from the disc. My recommendation would be that you start by simply inserting your disc in the DVD Rom on the computer see what happens when you open My Computer on the Desktop then you click on the DVD rom icon to see if the DVD opens. If it opens it means the information on the disc can be read. so you click again on the folder that appears. If you have a media player installed then that media player will play back those video files. These files can then be transferred to the computer then authored by a computer software like Nero. There are many other programs that can do this job. Also such software can open sometimes such a disc if and when the windows operating system's My computer fails to open it.

My sister took a video of my dghters wedding last month how do I go about getting 2 copies put on a dvd?

Connect the camcorder on your computer. Copy the files on your hard-drive or you can copy it straight to a blank DVD if you have a DVD-writer. Just repeat it again to have 2 copies.

The disk must be finalized. Instructions are on page 79 of the instruction booklet for the MV5S. I can't get the manual to download from the MVC site, but maybe it will work later. Hopefully you have the manual.

I burnt a video to a DVD+R DL but not playing on my DVD player?

You don't need to format the disc, as it does this during the burn process. What you may find is that your NEC dvd player does not play DVD+R. If you can, re-burn the video on a DVD-R 8.5GB.

You can also compress the video to fit on 4.7GB dvd. Download a program called DVD Shrink 3.2. Put the disc you burnt in the drive, and run DVD Shrink. This will analize the film, and all you need to do is click on Re-Author and lower the compression. It even has a line to show how big the video will be on the disc. On a 4.7GB dvd, you don't want this any higher than 4,430MB.

Hope those work

It's possible because your DVD is an RW that someone could have reformatted it on accident erasing the video. If you have something important to preserve make sure you do not use an RW DVD because accidents can happen and it could get wiped out unintentionally.
