If you fed it too much paper and they popped apart you will need to disassemble the unit to see if it can be repaired. If it is a basic one that is less than $100 I would recommend considering just replacing it as the costs to repair will be more than it is worth.

Jammed with too much paper, tried pulling out with pliers-no go. tried reversing-no go. need instructions on how to dismantle to loosen the rollers

Robin,
Without knowing the brand & model, I am not real sure how to tell you to proceed other than to say that you would have quite a job on your hands to do that. When I have worked on shredders where I have done that type of work, it usually takes me several hours to get it apart and cleaned and put back together. If you decide to try it yourself, you will probably find one of the screws that holds the top together, under a label. You will have to run your fingers over the labels feeling for a small dent. When you find it, just push your screwdriver through the label and loosen the screw. I would suggest also that you make yourself a drawing or take digital pictures of everything before you take anything apart so that you have a reference to how it goes back together. Hope this helps!

How do I fix the rollers that won't turn when paper is inserted in shredder?

That shredder is as weak as they come - it is probably a broken plastic part inside the mechanism. Recommend you throw it away and get the Amazon Basics shredder, your experience will be much better. Sorry.

Paper shredder doesn't move due to too much adhesive paper - how to fix it

Before trying anything I suggest, make sure your shredder isn't plugged in.
You will need to remove the adhesive from the rollers. You will need to use a glue solvent on the shredder rollers, something like Goo Be Gone. Personally, I still use Ronsonol Lighter Fluid In the image below I've outlined the supplies you'll need to, hopefully, clear your jam.

25346531-f3timxio4jyou4u0bydnlgfi-2-0.jpg Without disassembling your shredder, the best way to clear your jam is to use Rosonol Lighter Fluid (3), tweezers (4), and dental picks (5).
  1. Make sure you are working in a well ventilated area. Separate the shredder from its shredded paper collection tub.
  2. Turn the shredder head upside down so that the paper output is facing up.
  3. Pour Rosonol lighter fluid on both sides of the rollers near where they come together.
  4. Use dental picks and tweezers to dislodge stuck paper pieces
  5. Turn Shredder head over and repeat steps 3 and 4
  6. Move power switch to the "Off" position
  7. Plug power cable back in
  8. Move power switch to "Rev" (reverse) position, if still stuck move power switch to the "Fwd" position, repeat twice
  9. Repeat steps 1 - 8 until the rollers move freely
Once the rollers are moving smoothly you need to oil the rollers.

How do I clear the paper clog from the rollers?

First try to run it backwards. Sometimes that will clear a clog. If not UNPLUG IT, and painstakingly pick out any paper lumps with tweezers, slowly. GOOD LUCK! I have spent a few hours in front of the TV just picking out paper bits. In the future, be sure not to put in more than two or three pieces of paper at a time, NO STAPLES, and use shredder oil ever fifty or so sheets you put through!!!

Shredder does reverse but not forward

How old is the shredder? Is it still under warranty? If it is old and past the warranty period, it may be that the On/Off switch needs to be replaced. Since it is "cleaned" and it works in reverse, it does sound like a switch. BUT...
Since you may have "cleaned" the rollers, you may still have some paper jamming the blades/rollers. To check this out, you may have to open the unit. This is done by using, in most cases, a skinny Phillips head screw driver and removing the screws from each hole. I say a "skinny" screwdriver because the screws are usually rather far in the holes and you also need to make sure you remove them all. Lay each screw out in the pattern of the screw holes so you can replace them in the holes from which you removed them (some screws are of different length). Now carefully separate the halves of the unit and make sure to be aware of any wires that are connected to both parts. When this is done and the blades/rollers can be seen, check for paper that may still be present. You should be able to turn the blades/rollers by hand using the gears by the motor. If you can't do this, DO NOT use any tools to try to move them. Once you are sure that ALL the paper is removed, put the two halves back together and replace the screws. Make sure the halves are properly aligned before tightening the screws down.
Once you have replaced the unit back onto the bin and it is properly seated, try it out. It should work. If not, decide on whether or not you want to try replacing the switch. At this point you may also decide if it is easier to just purchase a new one.

How can I choose between cross cut and strip cut?

DEPENDS ON THE SECURITY OF THE SHREDDED DOCUMENTS YOU WANT.
A MEDICAL OFFICE WOULD NORMALLY HAVE A CROSS-CUT SECURITY SHREDDER SO NO-ONE CAN PUT DOCUMENTS BACK TOGETHER..ALSO BANKS AND LAW FIRMS.
A STRIP CUT SHREDDER CAN BE PUT BACK TOGETHER IF YOU ARE DETERMINED ENOUGH.
