The washing machine agitator or barrel does move when I manually turn it. If something was caught it probably wouldn't do that. Thanks Elizabeth Luginbuhl

Hi I already told you that it fills with water. Thanks Elizabeth

Thankyou for your help. I will continue to work with my appliance technician who conntinues to try and solve the problem. If I need a new motor I might as well buy a new machine, right? Elizabeth Luginbuhl

Hi

It seems that something is stuck and you'll have to remove the agitator to clean it. If this is an old style washer, then it should have a bolt under the cap that must be removed to remove the agitator, then grab hold of the agitator and lift up. If it's a not too old then the agitator just pulls out, remove cap, if no bolt, just grab hold and lift up hard...picture.Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

We have an Ultima washing machine and creases the cloths very badly any suggestions please

The amount of creasing you will get is directly related to the speed you select for the final spin dry cycle and the spin after the first wash cycle which occurs prior to the rinse cycle. The higher the speed and the longer it goes for the more the clothes will crease.

Experiment with different spin speeds on your machine for clothing that is subject to the creasing problem. Also do not put too many items in the machine for a wash as many people do as this will contribute to creasing. Always under load your machine for every wash cycle.

Spin drying is a compromise between creasing and maximum water removal. If you want less creasing you will need to select a more gentle spin dry speed but you will also have the clothes coming out of the machine with a higher water content and they will take a bit longer to dry. The spin time on the program may also be shorter.

In my own machines I use a gentle wash and spin cycle for all clothing that I don't want heavily creased. Running it on a wash cycle with a high and longer spin speed when the machine is spinning the clothes after the initial wash, and then again after the final rinse, will thoroughly crease the clothes every time.

Also bear in mind that different fabrics that are suitable for machine washing will perform differently and some are just too subject to creasing even if you use the most gentle wash, rinse and spin cycle. Hence you can take 2 different 100% cotton fabrics out of a machine and hang them to dry and one will be almost crease free and the other will be thoroughly creased. With these fabrics that are just very subject to wash creasing, it is better to hand wash and rinse them. Then after rinsing drip dry them or put them in the machine and spin them for 1 -2 minutes maximum just to get some of the water out and hang dry them.

WHY WONT MY GENERAL ELECTRIC MODLE #WCXH208VOWW SPIN

Hi Darryl

Usually won't spin until water is drained to a low level.

Wont drain possibly because of blockage or pump blocked or stuck. (A Common Problem in Washing Machines)

So... As for further Troubleshooting
Process of elimination.
Where is Time Wheel set and what does it require to advanced to next stage.

Think of it as a Rotating Timer Switch stopping at each stage to check conditions.
The stages are controlled by sensors like "High Water Level"
The Sensor could be a simple Float Switch... eg. "High Water"

If water is High... Dont allow door to open and don't allow spin.
But do allow Pump to run.
It's all Plain Logic like used in computers (If, Then, Else)

Fws445rf1 washer didnt stop filling and flooded my apt and it doesnt aggitate when it is washing, the whole thing just spins inside instead of moving back and forth, what are the most likely reasons for...

if it's a top-loader, then the water level sensor is probably failed! if an older machine- there's a plastic tube (which you can't see from the outside) that measures the column of water in the tub of your machine, and triggers the agitate and spin, and rinse cycles of your machine.
when it's in wash cycle the water level is lower, then it spins and drains and the rinse cycle pumps in more water (makes sense!), then drains & spins, then re-rinses at the same water level. your water level sensor is defective, probably. allowing it to over-fill.
it detects the water level as 'spin' and doesn't agitate!
my theory- no guaranty! if it's old get a new washer or a good used one! this is not a problem i've encountered, just a guess. good luck!

Washing machine will not aggitate.

if it fills with water then stops check you lid or door switch. will the unit drain or spin if so the the timer may be bad

Water drains during spin cycle, but tub does not spin and appears to have dropped down. Machine does aggitate.

If you can move the tub by hand laterally - the rear main bearing has likely failed - or the drum rollers are worn.

Aggitator won't work and won't spin/ drains ok

Coupling is bad.
There is a coupling between the motor and the transmission. When this part breaks then it will pump the water out but won't spin or aggitate.

Washing machine that no longer can spin dry laundry

The washer has a reversable motor. One way it washes and everything is sweet. the other direction the water pumps out and the brake gets released allows the tub to slowly start spinning and eventually spin out the water from the clothes. So what can go wrong? The thrust washer will not release the tub and let it spin. A new kit comes with everything you need to replace it.Since you never said what brand you have I am oly guessing of course by the symtoms you have given.eee0328.jpg

Keeps filling up even when full for over 4 hours (never changed cycles)

The timer sends a signal to the water level control valve. This valve serves two primary purposes. 1. Activate the water valve to fill the machine. 2. Shut the water flow down and allow the machine to operate. Try running the machine again. If the water continues to enter the machine after it begins aggitating then shut the water off at the spigot. Now watch and see if the timer moves or not.

If the timer does not move at all then I would replace the timer. If it DOES move then another problem exists and will need to be addressed.
