Question about Boston Acoustics BA65 Computer Speakers
Our computer is not new... had ME, and went to XP a LONG time ago. We had a lightening storm recently, and now do not have sound. Any ideas? Could the lightening have done something? I've unplugged and replugged in everything, and the power light is on the speaker. My volume is not muted, etc. Ideas???

This speaker system requires a digital audio input, which most older systems don't have. The sound card that was built into your Gateway can put out either a digital or analog signal depending on how you have it set. Chances are your new sound card might be able to output in digital mode as well, but you may have to turn it on manually. Try double-clicking your volume icon in your system tray, then click the "advanced" button at the bottom left. This should bring up a window that lets you adjust the treble and bass, but it should also give you an "other options" area that lets you turn on digital output. If your new card supports digital output, the option should be there. If the card does not support it, you will have to use a different card. I hope this helps.

I am sure that it is not due to one line around. Just check weather the power is on and also check the sound settings on ur pc, it may have been muted or the sound level must have been reduced. You can also check your speakers by connecting it to a mini player or a mp3 player. Dont worry pal, this will surely get u working....!!! Please rate me.

Try installing an old creative driver for digital audio but use system restore to take a backup of your settings first. Also, you may have to update the bios and unselect the AUTO mode for sound.
