New upper and lower rack for VUD140 Dishwasher

Thank you for your quick reply but the links don't help me. One is how to repair a broken rack and the other is for ordering replacement baskets. I need a NEW upper and lower rack for my VUD140 Dishwasher. It's an older model and I need to know if Viking still supplies these parts.

    Thank you!

I need a new upper and lower rack for a Viking VUD140 Dishwasher. Where can I buy them? Thank you!

  • maureen107 Apr 06, 2011

I was told to go back and ask my question again but this is the same solution that didn't help me when you sent it on March 31. I need to know how to order these parts for my boss. What can I tell him? Are they available anywhere?

    Thank you!

    Maureen

  • maureen107 Apr 06, 2011

The location is Bridgeport, CT USA but my boss will pay for shipping from wherever you can find the racks. He doesn't want to buy a new DW...just replace the racks.
    Thank you!

Hello Maureen,

Please let me know your location and I will find suppliers for the parts you need - assuming they are still available. You don't want to be shipping them from Australia if you are in the USA!

Regards,
BElectric

    Thanks Maureen.

A quick check tells me the parts should still be available but it may take me a while to track down suppliers who have them in stock or can order them. I will get back to you within 1-2 hours. I hope this small delay does not inconvenience you.

The upper rack is available and I have located suppliers, but the lower rack shows as NLA (no longer available). I may be able to track one down (or a suitable replacement), but I should advise you that the total cost of the two racks will be around $300. Considering the age of the washer, I'm not sure whether you would prefer to replace the racks or the washer! Please advise.

In the meantime, I will continue trying to locate a lower rack for you.

    Hi Maureen,

I've searched extensively and a replacement upper rack is definitely available.

Although the original rack (part number PD350019) is no longer available, there is a Viking authorised substitute for this rack (part number PD150030). This rack may differ slightly in appearance from the original but it will fit the VUD140 perfectly with no modification required. You can obtain the upper rack from here:

    Sears Parts Direct

    http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir...

    Part number: PD150030

Price: $136.99 + shipping (in stock)

You can order this part online from the linked page or call Sears Parts Direct on: 1-800-252-1698.

The lower rack is a little bit more difficult. As far as I can determine, the original rack (part number PD350018) is no longer available and there is no Viking authorised substitute for this part. I find this a little odd as a replacement is available for the upper rack. I would suggest you call the main authorised Viking parts supplier to enquire about a replacement for this rack:

    All Viking Parts

    http://www.allvikingparts.com/

    Phone: 1-888-988-4546

There are no non-US suppliers for these parts, but I did find a couple of US suppliers who claim to have the lower rack in stock. I am hesistant to list these because I am not familiar with them so am unable to verify their reliability. It may be worth calling them to enquire though:

    1 - United Part Supply

    http://www.expertappliance.com/viking-di...

    Part number: Z1-PD150018-53VDW

Price: $347.43 + shipping (claimed as in stock)

    Phone: 1-877-694-3900

I would advise calling this supplier rather than ordering online and to pay by credit-card if possible as this gives you buyer protection. If you wish to order online from United Part Supply, please click on the link above, then scroll down the page a little and select "Dishrack-Lower" from the "Part Type" dropdown menu, then enter "PD150018" in the "Model or Part Number" box.

    2- Superior Appliance Parts

    http://www.superiorapplianceparts.com/sh...

    Supplier's part number: Not stated

Price: $275.40 + shipping (claimed as in stock)

    Phone: 1-877-694-3900

Again, I would advise calling this supplier rather than ordering online and to pay by credit-card. If you wish to order online from Superior Appliance Parts, please click on the link above, then scroll down the page a little and select "Lower Dishrack" from the "Pick your Part" dropdown menu, then enter "PD150018" in the "Part or model number" box.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Regards,

    Nick / BElectric

Sorry, slight error - if ordering from United Part Supply or Superior Appliance Parts, the correct part number is PD350018 (not PD150018).

I would be very wary of ordering from either of the above suppliers. I am happy to look for other suppliers for you, but All Viking Parts are the people who will definitely know.

    Hello Maureen

I don't really think I could have done much more in terms of locating parts and suppliers for you. I would appreciate it of you could let me know why you requested a refund.

    Thanks.

I have a GE profile dishwasher. The wheels on the lower rack have all come off and I can't seem to get it back on. On some, the piece that snaps to the rack is either broken or melted off somehow. Do I...

You just need the wheels. I have bought the upper rack wheels before, now I need the lowers. I have found a site selling them at 10.00 each. I am going to keep looking, I think I can do better, considering I need 4. I might just buy a new washer if I have to spend 40.00 plus shipping! I will post back if I find a better deal.

The unit is 6 years old. Dishes on the top rack do not get cleaned. Dishes on the bottom rack are fine.

Hi,

I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working... Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...

Rusty dish rack

Clearly a design or manufacturing flaw. I have the same model and the rack is disintegrating after 6 years. I believe it is a manufacturing flaw. Our previous dishwasher rack lasted over 20 years in the same conditions. Same construction, vinyl covered steel. New upper and lower racks cost over 200.00 and there is no guarantee that this won't happen every six years. I recommend a new non-Maytag dishwasher as soon as you can. Meanwhile, limp along with the defective racks.
