If the disks works with some other computer, then the disk-reader has gone "bad", and needs to be replaced.

Trying to record on a DVD-R , after several minutes trying to load i get a msg saying it can neither read nor play this disc , check disc,,please help

I've had this problem with trying to record on CD-Rs also. DVD and CD recorders can be very fussy. You just have to get a piece of dust or a fingerprint on the CD or DVD that's being recorded onto and it gets kicked back as a check disc or blank disc..

Another problem is some recorders will only accept certain brands. I've had problems recording onto a SONY CD-R with a SONY recorder! So, in summing up, try a different brand or make sure the disc is clean. Sometimes just taking the disc out and putting it back in in a different position will make the recorder think it's an OK disc. Hope this helps.

Why does the fan sound as if it's hitting on something?

Its has accumulated a lot of dust and the dust is causing it not to spin correctly and therefore making a clapping noise , use a powerful hoover and **** the dust out of the fan

its either dirt or one of the fins on the fan has broke or the bearing inside is broken

If this has helped you please give feedback by voting

Hi the wii will come on but wont read our discs can you advise thanks sue keeps comeing up with disc error unable to read disc this is any disc thankyou

This sounds like a bad laser. Like all consoles, it's impossible to make an exact diagnosis without looking at it, however if it turns on and brings you to the main menu, then it is most likely the laser. Try a DVD cleaning disc first. It's inexpensive and can be found anywhere that sells consumer electronics. If that doesn't work, you may need to replace the laser entirely. Also, keep all game consoles in a clean place. Dust the area often as the cooling fans on these new consoles brings in a lot of dust. If your still having trouble, contact me through my website:

It says the disc is unreadable and ive cleaned

Ok this worked on my mw2.
Take some toothpaste, a soft cloth.
wet the dist then dab a small amount on the game disk. (NOTE!!) STREAK OUTWARS TO THE EDGE NOT IN CIRCLE IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS IT WILL MAKE IT WORSE!.
after youve done this wash and repeat 10-15 times (note) it will take about an half an hr if you do it properly.

Overheats after 10mins

It sounds to me that their is a problem with air flow. Check the air vent on the PS3; Is there any physical sign of dust blocking the holes. A hoover may help you here, or it's off to the repair shop.
