To remove: Hold the plastic nut under the "T" arm assembly and use your other hand to unscrew the "T".
To replace do just the opposite. Do not over tighten, you can crack the retaining nut.

Sprinkler arms came off and water shoots straight up

You just have to screw the arms back on. There is a plastic white bolt that is attached to the arm it screws on to the tractor.

Nelson Sprinkler Rain Train Traveling Sprinkler will only go backwards , i have the arms going in the right direction...please help

If it's going backwards, and assuming you didn't take it apart and put it together wrong, then the arms aren't going in the right direction. Looking down from the top, my unit should be moving clockwise if it's set up correctly. In any case, switch it so the water pushes the arms in the other direction. the transmission is pretty straightforward - if it's going in the wrong direction then the arms are spinning in the wrong direction.

My tractor sprinkler was running fine and then suddenly stopped. What should I look for as the problem?

My sprinkler did (something like) this a couple of times (very infrequently) - the arms seemed "seized" (cannot rotate clockwise or counter clockwise) but, I was able to get them moving again by picking up the sprinkler (a couple of inches) by the sprinkler arm T-pipe. Picking it up this way, vertically, seemed to "un-stick" the arms.

Of course, if your sprinkler is very old (12 years?) the gear box may be worn, it would cost about a quarter to a third as much as a brand new sprinkler to replace. You can find the parts you need by reading the question about where to get parts at FixYa.

Tractor sprinkler. the plastic t that attached the arms has broken. i ordered a new part with the t, and two new sprayer arms. cant figure out how to remove the broken t. tried pulling as i unscrewed...

Make sure you are holding the shaft that goes down into the tractor still. You may need a pipe wrench to hold it tight. If it is still stuck you may need to use something like PB blaster to loosen the joint. Gently heating the joint with a propane torch and letting it cool back down might break it free as well.

The watering arms won't turn to move the tractor

Check your water pressure... you need to have 40-60 PSI.

Nelson traveling sprinkler broken plastic part

I just took mine apart about a week ago. If, I recall correctly, you broke the T piece. That black plastic or nylon nut that is still connected to the transmission should thread off fairly easily.

I expect you can buy the part from Nelson.

If, solution #1 is correct and you find you cannot get the part, I've done some truly amazing repairs with that epoxy product called PC7. Depending how much of the part is broken and or missing, you might find a combination of what you have plus a brass T fitting plus the PC 7 will get it working.

You have nothing to loose.

My tractor runs backward

You have to turn the sprinkler arms in the opposite direction to what they are. There is a diagram on top of the sprinkler.
