Question about Saeco Vienna De Luxe Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Saeco Vienna deluxe machine will not prime

The guy i bought it from had it in storage. It sounds like the pump is working but no water comes out. I only tried it for short period as i dont want it to overheat and damage anything. I am not sure how to acess the water line to check for a bockage or to check to see if maybe it has some sort of vapor lock.

Any info would be great

Where would I find a bellows pump to try this?

  • janetind Aug 16, 2008

I have a Saeco Vienna Superautomaitca. It hasn't been used for about 1 year and now when I first turn it on the machine will not prime. My maintenance book says to 'manually prime' the machine with the manual pump. I no longer have the manual pump that came with the machine. Do you know if I can use something else to manually prime it - or can you tell me where I can find a replacement manual pump thing?

    Many thanks,

try to open the steam knob and see if there will come out some water, if not then you have air in the system.

Try to take a bellowpump and press in water where the hole for the watertank in the machine are, open the steam knob so the pump is running when you do this.

Try a similar pump, you only have to force in water to the machine when the machine takes water then you have to put the water tank back again.

Dualit 889 pump sound normal but no water comes through after lond period without use

For the most part; the pump action is working, however; the water lines (Ports/Tubes) have debris inside and prevent the fluids from flowing. Clean and Purge or Descale as per the manual.

The steam works fine on my X5, but no water comes out of the coffee part. The pump sounds like it's working.

Check the shower screen and the dispersion block for clogs, they need to be cleaned periodically.
You can remove it by unscrewing a screw in the center of the shower screen.

You could have a seized water pump if you haven't been descaling regularly. Take the pump out and disassemble, clean, reassemble. Work carefully as there are several small parts.

No water coming through coffee filter. I have descaled twice. You can hear the pump but no water and then it goes quite with no water. I have tried to prime the pump but still does not work. The steamer is...

If you open the steam tap while the pump is running does water come out? if so then you might have a blockage in the coffee solenoid or the bottom of the boiler. Do you hear a 'click' sound when you hit the coffee switch? If not the coffee solenoid may not be operating. The most common cause of the problem you are having though, is scale flaking off the boiler walls causing a blockage where the coffee water comes out. Try hiting the coffee switch, opening the steamer and then if water starts pumping out, close the steamer and see if water starts flowing out the coffee group. Do this without the portafilter (coffee holder) in place.
If you do get water flowing trough the group, try backwashing the machine.
If these things dont help then you should take it to an authorised repairer or open up the boiler yourself if you are a handy person and have access spare parts. Good luck, these machines can make a great espresso when in the right hands and working order.

Recently bought a house that has system CVA615. Hasn't been used a dozen times they said - so I cleaned per instructions. It now says "hot waster - expel air". Have done everything book said...

When selecting "Hot Water," can you hear a pump working (usually a strong buzzing sound)? If you do, then water path may be blocked or pump itself is jammed. A jammed water pump still makes buzzing sound. May be stuck from not using, for long period of time. Especially, in hard water areas.

My c190 pump works, but no steam or water coming out

flush water through the system. This is another case where the internal heating/water storage unit has dried out. Flush water through the system by using the "hot water" function. Once it runs without interruption you should be able to brew again.

Priming problem

Make sure you try to prime right when the machine is turned on, so that there is no boiler pressure making it more difficult to prime.
