Question about NorStar M7100 Corded Phone

I have a Norstar M7100 that randomly stopped working. It is just displaying a ... error message. It appears to be waiting on something but I am not sure how to fix it. I am looking at the manual but just can't find anything.

Check to make sure that the phone line is plugged in tightly on both ends.

Displaying "message" but not message in voicemail


THis is usually because it thinks that there is something there, but the code path to 'clear it" doesn't follow the same logic path. Sometimes, adding a new message - i.e. dial your number from elsewhere, to create a real message waiting, and then clearing that, resets this.

How do you change the time on the display?


Time on that type of phone system is controlled by the administrator.
This guide may help if you have administrative access.

How can I reset the time on the phone? The ADMIN code doesn't work.


Try this:
Press "Feature (star) (star) T I M E"
and follow the display prompts.

Norstar Meridian M7100 incoming calls - no ringing tone


Programming is done on M7310, M7324 and T7316 sets.
To set up ringing you need to enter programming by pressing the feature key followed by **266344.When prompted to enter the password enter 266344.
The screen should say TERMINALS&SETS. The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming.
At the terminals&sets prompt, press the show key (top right arrow). The display should now ask for an extension number. Enter extension number you wish to program ringing on. Press the show key (top right arrow)
The display should sat LINE ACCESS
Press the show key (top right arrow) .
The display should say LINE ASSIGNMENT.
Press the show key (top right arrow) .
The display ask for a line number. press list
The display should say line 001: appear & ring
press the Chng key till it says appear only press next key (lower right arrow)
The display should say line 002: appear & ring
repeat the procedure the same as line 001 for the remaining ringing lines

press the release key when finished

Display not showing and won't adjust


That looks like that sets freaking out. I'd unplug that one for 10 seconds and see if that corrects the problem. Also, did you try another set in its place to see if the display on the sets having the issue and not the port?

In my workplace, when you move the Nortel M7100 phone, the programmed info (extension number, etc) moves along, just like if I was rewiring all phones. Have you tried just to unplug the phone and plug it on the new location? Here the extension number moves along with the equipment... (Nortel Norstar M7208 and M7100). Good Luck!

Your phone may have another mailbox associated with it, like the general delivery mailbox which can be mail box 100, try logging into 100 with default password of 0000. I am assuming you have 3 digit extension, if 2 digit login into mailbox 10.

Next time you see that message displayed on your screen...
Try FEATURE # 6 5 ~ Cancel Message Waiting.

It will display who sent the message and cancel it at the same time.

Meridian M7100 Corded Telephone


The M7100 can be used on several different Nortel / Norstar phone systems. You would need a programming manual or administration guide for the specific phone system you have. You'll need to find out what system you have first.
