What hp router is best to make cabinet raised doors

I used to use a Ryobi 2.5 hp and it worked fine but if you are concerned go higher hp. It's probably more important that the router is a variable speed model. The bigger the size of cutter required for raised panel doors the more torque and revs are produced. You need to ensure starting on slowest speed and adjust up to speed required. Speed should be based on size of cutter and to me is set by sound( a nice hum, not screaming) and vibration( NO VIBRATION)! The cut needs to be done in several passes, maintaining constant feed speed,( don't burn your expensive cutter) allowing cutter and machine to do work maintaining the hum and no vibration. And of course set your guards etc!! If this is on going work for you perhaps look into a spindle moulder with attachment to take router cutters

How do you lock the spindle on a JET JWS-18HO in order to change the bit?

Screw a starting pin ( see manual) into the base plate then cut a small block of wood that engages the face of the cutter and the starting pin. This locks the spindle and stops it moving. Use the supplied spanner and tap with a mallet. Tap the cutter to loosen it. Dave and Graham.

What is the router bit depth for a shop fox dovetail jig

Usually with router dovetail jigs one has to find the depth by trial and error as the fitting is very critical and any discrepancy doubles as the cut is on both sides of the joint.
I think you may have to play this game.
You will need offcuts of the same size as the finished work that are long enough to go into the clamps of the device and then just fit the joint by trial and error. It is the way we do it in the trade. Sharpening of the cutter and different thicknesses of wood all affect the fit of the joint.
If my memory serves me raising the cutter up toward the machine makes the joint looser and lowering it makes it tighter. If I was in my workshop with the machine in my hand I would remember for sure
Good luck!

Ive got a kenzo router and the router bits do not fit . ive got quarter inche cutters and when the collet is done up tight the cuters are still not tight. its not a half inch router as ive measured it. any...

Your router bits must have a 6mm shaft, whereas your router with the collet closes down on a 1/4" or 6.4mm shaft. You will need to get a metric collet for your router spindle, or get a new set of 1/4" bits

I have a Black and Decker drill press and the spindle is dropping out. Is there a clip or something that should hold it in? There is a groove in the top of the spindle for something.

generally on a larger drill press the spindle is a taper fit. What you would need to do is clean the taper and the socket thoroughly with break clean or something with will air dry. Then take a block of wood and place it on the chuck with the jaws retracted and hit the piece of wood to seat the taper socket.
