The suggestion to remove the hinges was brilliant. You just need to remember to remove all 5 screws on each hinge 2 front 3 back and wala. My printer will likely work for years to come.

Hi

You need to replace the broken hinge. Unless you find a replacement try removing the broken top half of the hinge and let the machine work. Remove 5 screws using a TORX T10 screwdriver. First remove the small plate covering the back of hinge on the outside. Then remove the two vertical screws at the top of the hinge up under the hinge lip. Then open the cover (You have to be careful to hold it in place so as not to damage the three flex connections between the lid and body )and remove the other two screws at the top of the hinge. Remove the broken top half of the hinge and lower the cover back down. Until you find a replacement hinge, you can put a piece of heavy duty tape on the back where the hinge was

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

Take a flexible plastic of small size of desired length which should not break when folded. It should be flexible and paste the flexible plastic to the cover and the printer it will work as hinges. The plastic should be gummed in the inside of the cover so no one will see it

Scanner lid hinge broken or missing

If you read through the posts, there are many ideas on what to do. The cheapest and easiest way I found to fix a broken hinge is to follow one the ideas in the posts. I wrote a detailed post step-by-step. In quick summary, I broke the other hinge and removed all the broken pieces to both, so the lid would lay flat again. Printer doesn't care if the hinges are not there. The hinge on the cover cracked. Can this be replaced?

I used an offset cabinet hinge & screwed it into the body of the printer, & the cover. The offset has to be jiggled a bit to open, but works fine on closing.
Otherwise, HP wants you to buy a complete new scanner cover.

HP officejet 6210 broken hinge on cover to access the print cartridges. Fixable and where can I take or fix myself?

The 6210 series are famous for broken hinges, plastic and under spring loading. One place has them but at $88 for a set it may be not worth it. See link below if interested. I have one too with same problem.

Can I get parts to replace broken hinge? I have an HP Officejet 6210 All in One.

In the mean time, I kept my unit working by just removing the broken top half of the hinge.

Broken hinge

Take the scanner lid off by squeezing the plastic hinges inserted into the back of the cabinet.
Take the top hinge of the cartridge door off with the 2 tork screws holding it, using a small screw driver.
Go to a hardware store & pick up a pair of cabinet hinges no more than 2". (You need to buy a pair because they do not come separate)
Place the new cabinet hinge on the back to the right of the bottom hinge of the base cabinet. Mark holes, drill one top, in the door, & 1 bottom cabinet, pilot holes. Check alignment & insert screws.
Tighten the bottom screws. Leave a little slack in the top screws as they have to be a little off set to close completely. You will only need to open this Cartridge door to change cartriges, so, no sweat.
My cost was under $5 for a pair of brass hinges, & my time, about an hour, taking my time.
It's too bad HP won't supply their offset hinges. They are inexpensive & easy to replace.
I've had my unit for exactly 4 years now, so this fix is a lot cheaper than buying a new one. Besides, I have ink already purchased that does not fit new printers.....go figure....
Aloha.
