Question about GTCO Roll-Up Digitizer, 30/36" (RU3036)

GTCO Roll-Up II digitizer suddenly stopped working...On boot up I get a message telling me the the tablet is not found. I checked all connections and verified the driver to be current according to windows update (driver 7.46.619.0). When I unplug the power and plug it back in I get 4 beeps. The device manager recognizes the tablet and indicates that it is functioning properly. I've been using this tablet several times a week for about 6 years...I haven't changed anything with this setup and now all of a sudden it is not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for the reply, can you tell me which is the ribbon cable? This unit has three cables coming out of it: the power cable, the mouse/pointer cable, and the data cable connected to the PC. I have checked all and they seem okay. Also, when I go to install the driver you linked there is a warning that comes up saying that this is a generic driver and I may lose functionality if I replace my existing driver with it.

    Do you recommend replacing the driver? I am currently looking through the manual as well.

Hello.

There may be a problem with the GTCO Roll-Up II driver (software to run the tablet).

Here is a link to find the driver, in case you don't have a copy.

Select Drivers next to Roll-Up II and Save then Run the TW-10.9.24 file.

If not the driver, then check the ribbon cable connections on both ends. Disconnect and then reconnect the ribbon cable to be sure it is seated well. Then press the reset button on the controller.

If still a problem, check this printable Help file, if you don't have a copy of the User Guide:

    Hi. Normally a ribbon cable is a soft, wide cable. But, it's not the power cable or the cable connected to the mouse. It's possible that the data cable is faulty. I would not recommend replacing the driver, if it is generic. Did the help file assist you at all with any troubleshooting of the beeps ?

How to set up mouse on paydirt software, currently working in reverse


This could be a problem in Paydirt or the setup of the digitizer.
The Roll-Up II and Roll-Up III digitizer would allow you to change the orientation from one side to another,check this first.
The 0,0 point should be at the left hand side of the Digitizer where the metal housing and connections are.
There is a selection on the menu to change this,it looks like a double-headed arrow.

I have the stand-alone system with the LCD screen,


These original Roll-Up I Digitizers didn't use a power supply,all of the power came through the Com port connection.
The Roll-Up II used a 9 volt center positive power adapter.

GTCO Roll-Up Digitizer... lines appear wavy and jagged


The GTCO ROll-Up is not a high accuracy tablet,it is made for general use by Estimators.

Normal accuracy is somewhere between 15 and 22 mil.

Are there any breaks in the line,this would indicate an open on the grid.

Are you using a Tabletworks driver? Check the options and make sure the correct size tablet is in the driver.

The GTCO digitizer roll up board was folded and now has a crease.


No, the lines in the Roll-Up are probably broken.

If you send it to GTC for repair, they should give you a discount on a new one.

Go to the search on your computer and find your tabletworks. Open tablet works and go to mapping. Click pick. Locate your mouse pad on the digitzer pad. Click Apply. This worked for me.

Wont recognize gtco digitizer on start up


First reset digitizer and make sure you hear four beeps and only four beeps.
Check the cables from the Quikruler to the interface module, make sure they are in good condition, no cuts, breaks missing pins on connector.
Check cables from interface module to digitizer. A good way to check for an intermittent problem is to bend the cable at different points and check the display on the Quikruler to see if has reset.

Select S01 on the superset code with your stylus or cursor. You get get four sucess tones (beeps).

If none of this works check the firmware version on the digitizer, some J2.0 firmware may become corrupted. When the firmware becomes corrupted, you will hear three(3) medium tones on power-up.
If this is happening it will have to be serviced by GTCO.
