Could be a couple problems, first unplug tool and remove brushes, I would assume they are burnt or short, next while turning blade by hand look at the commutator to see if there are raised bars or extreme discoloring, if so the armature needs replaced. I would start with these 2, after installing new brushes you probably have to clean the commutator. Let me know if you need more assistance.

My dewalt d55153 starts runs then trips breaker can anyone point me in the right direction. Brushes. Windings?

if there is sever arcing at the brushes, it could be the armature , armature bearings or the windings
tripping a breaker is either overload ( short) or insulation failure causing an imbalance in the breaker causing it to trip
take the machine in for a proper inspection and diagnosis

I need to change out a motor on a Dw364. the cover will not come off.I have it all apart.

Careful study of the exploded parts diagram may help you find the secret to opening the cover. Usually (I've "been there" with other motors) it is some item blocking, such as the brush holders, a C ring, the fan... something is blocking disassembly. I hope this helps get you on the trail. If you don't have the diagram, a copy is at:

The motor is running slower and the engine begins to smoke as if it is burning up. A suggestion was to replace the brushes.

It sounds like some oil has gotten onto the armature of the motor where the brushes are. That will cause the symptoms of what is happening.
Get some Electric Motor and Brake Parts Cleaner at an auto supply house. Note: It is not flammable.
If you cannot find it. Get the Regular Brake parts cleaner.
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.
1 Allow the saw to cool to room temperature.

2 MAKE SURE IT IS UNPLUGGED

3 Spray the cleaner it into the vent holes
4 Carefully remove the brush caps (Small Black things that look like buttons) There are two of them.
5 Spray inside where the brushes are.
6 Let it dry out for a day.
7 Re-assemble
8 Plug it in and see how it works.

If it is still running roughly after you do the above steps. Get it serviced. There is damage to the armature and brushes.

Hope this helps.
Best, Mark

Welder blowing house fuses, was alright for the past 5 years. welded has had new leads, also electric leads

Try replacing the breakers in the box if you know how. If the breakers has tripped more than 5 times then that weakens the breaker and it needs to be replaced, this is especially so if you it's 220 volt welder. There may be bus bar wear from arcing and you may have to buy a new breaker and put it in a new slot and not use the breaker that is for the welder at present. If its a stab lock breaker turn it off and remove it and get a new one at any hardware store. IF IT STILL BLOWS THE NEW BREAKER Call an electrician because you may have a lug failing on one leg, if this is the case the box could damage other appliances or kill the side your refrigerator is on or freezer then you have an emergency problem losing the food. let me know if this helped.
