Code # 11 indicates an Ignition Failure. According to the Owners Manual you should do the following: Check that gas is turned ON. Check that the vent termination is not blocked. Refer to the Restart Function explanation.

RESTART FUNCTION:

If the appliance fails to ignite, the appliance will attempt ignition after 1 hour. The "Ignition Failure" fault code, 11, will appear during that hour and disappears after a successful ignition. If ignition fails again, then the fault code will remain and another attempt to ignite will occur in 1 hour. The fault code is not stored in the fault code history.

If the flame is extinguished during forced combustion then the appliance will attempt ignition after 1 hour. The "Ignition Failure" fault code, # 11 will appear during that hour and disappears after a successful ignition. Forced combustion takes place for about 15 seconds after ignition. After this time, the temperature control logic controls the combustion.

If the flame is extinguished (burner combustion failure) while the temperature control logic is operating the appliance, then the appliance will immediately attempt ignition. No fault code will appear.

In this problem repeats itself, contact you local Rinnai Authorized dealer/serviceman.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

Engine trys to start but wont. I have a new battery and the alternator is tested good. Will start sometimes with a jump even though it doesnt appear to be the battery.

If the car isn't turning over slowly as you try to start it, it's not the battery. If it started acting up just after a fuel fill-up, or if you're in a cold climate and your fuel level is low - I'd check for water in the fuel. Treat with Isopropyl alcohol (iso-heat or heet brands) in teh fuel tank. let it sit for 30 mins and try starting for a bit. probably won't start on this attempt. Let set for another 30 mins and try again.
If it's not he above, I would look at teh fuel pump as the culprit. You can test by attaching a fuel pressure guage to the fuel rail - pressure should be between 20-30#. Or have a shop test it.

Heat pump takes many trys to start compressor

do the thermostat have a time delay on it? most digital ones do you may have to get one if thats the case. Also are there start components on the unit? I've had top add them due to the newer units hasve nonbleed txv's and have a hard time starting up because of them. ans if oyu can see if there's a crank case heater on the unit becaause refrigerant migrates to the coldest spot and the compressor can have all the refrigerant inside of the can mixed with the oil. goof luck

There are bad solder connections on the vertical IC. This is a small flat IC attached to a heat sink. It should have about 9-11 pins and may be marked LA7837 or something similar. Resolder the pins on this IC and that should resolve the problem.

Running fine but no heat

YOU HAVE A SOLENOID (COIL) ON THE VALVE THAT IS HEATING UP AND BREAKING CONTACT INTERNALLY. WHEN YOU BUY THE COILS, THEY COME AS A SET SO YOU WILL REPLACE BOTH OF THEM.
