Question about Vacuums

Open Question

I have a Panasonic MC-V5217 Performance Plus vacuum cleaner and I tried to change the belt which was broken. I purchased the UB8 replacement belts but they are shorter than the belt that broke. Does this vacuum take a different belt??

Wish you had listed your model number, they are all different you know, that wire you refer to I have seen on some models and it is only a belt guide. Should be a slot that it fits into.

Sounds like a problem with the impeller. It is loose or broken. It is attached to the motor shaft.

SOURCE: Filters for panasonic vacuum cleaner MC-E468

Hi! Sometimes really hard to remember which of these models is which, so please forgive me if this is not a complete solution.  I'm pretty sure you will find there are two filters.  The first is a foam filter, and is located at the bottom of the bag compartment.  It pulls out to the front, and is washable (of course it must be completely dry before re-use).  The second (and here I'm on less secure ground) is a HEPA filter, and is located behind a removable panel on the front of the bag compartment door.  The HEPA filter is not washable, but rarely if ever needs to be changed unless the machine has been used for vacuuming a lot of extremely fine dust. I hope this helps, and I value your feedback. Please remember to rate my response.  Good luck!

Panasonic vacuum cleaner just stopped running

Set the on/off switch to off, now check near the top of the "beater" portion, I think that model has a reset button, you should hear a slight "click" when depressed. Try turning the vacuum back on.

Why does soot and debris come from the bottom of my Vacuum?

The "soot" is probably pieces of melted rubber from your belt. Replace it at least twice per year.

Panasonic optiflow upright vaccum

Hello, Put the vac on its side and remove the screws holding the cover plate on. This exposes the beater bar and belt on the side. Pull the beater bar out and take the belt off. Reverse this to put the belt back in place.

Here is the web site with owners manual. In the manual on page 14 there are instructions and pictures on how to replace the belt on your vacuum. This is much easier than trying to describe in this box. Panasonic Vacuum V5217

I CAN'T SEEM TO INSTALL A NEW UB8 BELT

  1. Remove the lower plate
  2. Carefully lift up on the agitator assembly until it clears both sides of the nozzle housing.

  3. Remove the belt from the motor shaft by sliding it off between the end of the shaft and the nozzle housing.
3.4.2 Installation
  1. Place the belt around the motor shaft.
  2. Start the new agitator assembly back into the nozzle housing by placing the side opposite the belt partially into the slot. This will hold the agitator in place and leave both hands free to place enough tension on the belt to allow that side of the agitator to return to the nozzle housing slot.

  3. Place the belt around the agitator pulley on the agitator assembly.
NOTE: There is a place for the belt to fit on one end of the agitator assembly only. This is the agitator pulley.
  4. Use both hands to pull the belt tight, and slide the agitator assembly firmly into the slots on each end of the nozzle housing.

  5. Rotate the agitator assembly by hand to insure nothing rubs and to check for correct assembly.
  6. Replace the lower plate
