Try to turn off the pc. Then remove the cables and battery on the laptop and then press and hold the power button of your laptop can't get into windows xp - ryanpajaro20_12.jpg for 8 secs. Then , reinsert the cables and battery of your laptop. Turn it on, and if there is power on the laptop and still you cannot boot to windows xp, consult your laptop provider to perform file back-up for you. The file back-up is dependent on its PC brand (DELL, HP).. they have different procedures on how to back up the files for it..

NTLDR is missing is displayed when i turn on the computer

The "NTLDR is missing", error displays very shortly after the computer is first started; after the Power On Self Test (POST) is complete. Windows XP might only initially load when the NTLDR error message appears. Causes of this error message include corrupt and misconfigured files, hard drive and operating system upgrade issues, corrupt hard drive sectors, an outdated BIOS, and damaged or loose IDE cables.

I have a hp pavilion 2120tx with windows 7 and i want to dual boot windows 7 and windows xp [windows 7 first]

You can create a Dual Boot in ur machine....
C: XP
D: or E: or F: as Win7

You need to re-format your disk, back up all critical data in your disk....
once done...boot with XP disk in CD drive....
after format, create multiple partitions....C: , D: , E: etc as per your preference
install XP in C:
once done...start PC and let the machine boot from C: XP...once you get Desktop in XP
install Win7 in D: or E: as prefered....once done..
in the startup screen you will get these 2 options
1 load earlier version of Windows
2 Windows 7
to make Win7 as default, right click on My computer (Win7), Properties / Advancd System Settings / Advanced Tab / Startup and Recovery / Under System Startup - Chose the Default OS by the down arrow and the time to it must be displayed in the startup to chose the OS....by this method you can chose Win7 or Xp to load...make your choice as prefered...

Sounds like you are running out of ram for the program. Try upgrading to some more ram in your system. Windows xp recommends minimum 512k of memory to run.

Hi.

If she did not format the hard disk, then the Windows XP startup option will be present in boot option. When computer startup you will get a choice like this:

1 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Edition.
2 Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2

In that case you can restore XP, starting on XP and editing the file winboot.ini, that is an hidden system file located on C:/ drive.

See:How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP.

If instead Windows XP does not start, or if you do not get the boot option, that means that Windows XP system file had been deleted.

In that case the only way to get back Windows XP is reinstalling the system from scrap, using a Windows XP install disk, and the number listed on the licence sticker.

Regards.

Startup problems

Hi,
this is telling you that a Scan/checkdisk program is running.
to get rid of this, run scandisk within windows, also go to Start/all programs/startup and remove from the startup if applicable.
to bypass on boot-up, simply press enter beefore the program Starts to run.

Installing widows XP

first, have a WIN XP startup disk...created by (in windows)  inserting floppy and right clicking choosing format and select option "create MSDOS startup disk"

first backup all personal files...then restart and bypass to DOS screen at startup...try using F8 key just after BIOS screen...then select startup to DOS prompt only...then run (from the floppy disc) format c:

now you should have a nearly bare hard drive. repeat above steps and this time choose "startup using CDROM drivers"...then insert CDROM and redirect to that drive letter (d drive?) and run setup.exe.
