Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
It depends upon the date of manufacture for Hotpoint (Indesit) washers. The date should be on the panel probably at the back in the most handy position, sorry!

Date code 39 March 2005
Press start/cancel until ALL LEDS are lit
Press both start/cancel AND on/off together until 'dOFF' is displayed

Date code 39 March 2005 to date code 42 June 2005
Press the cancel button and the machine should return to normal

Date code 43 July 2005 onwards
Press both start/cancel AND on/off TOGETHER with top left option button until 'dOFF' is displayed.
Hopefully one of these should clear it ;-0)
Good luck,
John C

Turn the color off and or go to a black and white program--stand back and examine the screen--what color is screen with no color?

If red or pinkish you may be able to locate and slightly adjust the red screen control down to get rid of this.

It is not real easy on this set as the controls are inside the set and face the rear--two person job--one watches the screen and the other slowly turns (tiny bit at a time) the red screen down.

Reds come out yellow, and facial tones are too red

It sounds like your machine needs to be calibrated. First try turning the machine off and unplug it for about 15 seconds. When you turn it back on it will reboot its software and stabilize the image units. If this does not correct the problem you can perform a gradation adjustment by:

1 Load 11 × 17 L-size paper into the 1st drawer.
❍ Letter C, A3 L or A4 C can be loaded instead.

2 Press the [Utility] key.

3 Touch [Admin. Mode].

4 Using the keypad, type in the administrator code.
❍ Touch [Enter].

5 Touch [Gradation Adjustment].
The Gradation Adjustment screen appears.

6 Press the [Start] key.
A test pattern is printed.

7 After the test pattern is printed, a screen appears, indicating how
the test pattern must be loaded.

8 Place the printed test pattern on the original glass.
❍ Align the edges of the printed test pattern with the document scales.

9 Place into the 1st drawer 10 more sheets of blank paper of the same size as the printed test pattern page.

10 Close the original cover, or the reverse automatic document feeder if it is installed.

11 Press the [Start] key. The printed test pattern is scanned.

12 Based on the scanned image, the gradation levels are automatically adjusted.
After the gradation levels are adjusted, the Admin. Mode screen appears again.

13 Repeat steps 5 through 12 three times.

14 Touch [Exit], and then touch [Exit] in the Utility screen.

Dell self test feature test has appeared on monitor screen with bold red, blue, yellow ,white all in one box which slowly wanders around monitor screen .how do i get rid of this to able me to use it

You'll need to press a button on the monitor, an icon that looks like a box with an arrow in it, press that an it should bring you back the normal desktop,
but if it still doesn't come on make sure that the monitor is properly plugged in the tower.

Hope this helps!

The bad news is this isn't really a solution. You should seriously consider getting rid of the CRT and going with a flat screen LCD monitor. It is 2009 after all...

Screen suddenly went blank except for a self test box

well in order to get rid of the self test window from your monitor... check the cable that connects your monitor to system tower & reset the connection... becase that is the only possible cause of the self test showing up on your monitor...

" as the self test option only appears when there is no video signal going from your video card to the monitor...

Red Dots

You can get rid of the red dots by adjusting the V-scan voltage down, it's on the panel sticker inside the unit, you can find the test point on the DC to DC pcb, and the adjustment pot is on the same board, lower it as you watch the screen and only lower it enough to rid the screen of the dots
