Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9549L Top Load Washer
My washer will fill up with water and agitate through the first cycle. It will not however drain the water and go into the spin cycle.....
I took the easy advice first. One guest said it was the lid switch. So I opened the lid and put a clothespin in the hole and then leaned the lid on it and guess what??? It began to drain and spin perfectly! PHEW... that saved me some time and money till I can get the switch replaced. THANK YOU "guest" from August 11th!!!

It may very well be the door switch, but if you press it down with a pen or something and you hear a click, then maybe not. I had the exact same problem and I removed the two side panels where the controls are and removed the two phillips head screws. There was a group of wires with a many holed plug that was not plugged into the connecting end. If you buy a used washer, try this first. Many times, the people at the store forget to plug this back in. DISCONNECT THE POWER FIRST. If this still does not work, try the switch.

Sounds like a lid switch. there should be a hole under the lid on the right side about the size of a dime. Make sure the plastic "flipper" is inside and "clicks" when you push down on it with a pen.

Check lid switch. Most will not run with lid open and the switch may not be pressed down when door is closed

i also had the same problem, and it ended up being the coupler. It was not hard to replace, it cost me about 19.00. I didn't follow full recomende instructions. I tipped the washer backwards. Removed the drain pump and the motor itself. Then I removed the old coupling and placed the new one. The washer is working like new...

Hello, your problem is going to be with the lids switch, in this machine it is going to be a magnetic contact. You can confirm this my pulling the front panel off and accessing the wireing to the lids switch, If you have electrical knowledge bypass the lid switch using a wire nut and run the machine. If all is ok make sure you relpace the lid switch since it is there for a reason. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!!!

If the cycle won't complete then either it's a problem with the timer or a cold-water supply problem:-
If your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.
It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water.
