Hello there;
Good day to you..
The best way to have an upgrade is to determine first the kind of memory module you have. You can look into your motherboard for any markings relating to memory module frequency such as DDR or DDR2 and so on..
Have a nice day!

MSI G31M3-LV2, Bios XD settings

Hello the homepage is here:

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/G31M3-L-V2---G31M3-LS-V2.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win7%2064

Here is no support for windows 8, and the cpu must support the 64bit
architecture, in order to install the windows operating system.

You must also have, at least 2 gb of ram.

Download the upgrade assistant here:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-to-windows-8

To find out.

Good luck

The first thing to ask yourself, is if the motherboard supports the CPU you installed. Also, check the BIOS settings to see if there were any settings that were not default.
Without checking the motherboard specs, I hope you matched the bus speed of the CPU, motherboard, and memory.

The board starts up but with no display

Try to remove RAM from modules then plug it again, also you can reset Bios settings to its default setting..If still happens then your need to try to upgrading your Bios...
Another possibility is usually caused by memory, and you can try with different Memory.

I have a MSI KM4M-L motherboard and it will not accept any other memory than the 512mb strip that is in at the moment, and this it reads as a different size. It has a Duron 850 processor.

Usually this is a BIOS problem.
Go to the MSI website and make sure you got the latest BIOS for the board, and upgrade it if you need too.

While there, download the operating manual (usually a PDF file) and look where it tells you what kind of memory is compatible with it.
You might have to put memory in slots in a certain order.
I.E. Memory in slots 0 and 2 first.
And, or, in particular on older boards the memory might have to be the same size sticks, etc.

How to upgrade to USB 2.0

hi this could be that the usb ports on your system are only usb v1 and not usb v2, if you require your items to run on usb v2 you will need to get a usb v2 pci card the things will work still just at a reduced rate of speed there will be no drivers for your usb ports to upgrade them as it is hardware related and not software related, usb v2 cards are generally cheep to buy and easy to install and set up....hope this helped

Memory upgrade, download upgrade to run 400

According to the specs of this motherboard, it only supports 333, 266 and 200 MHz DDR SDRAM. It does not support 400 MHz DDR SDRAM.
This motherboard has only 2 memory slots, each can accommodate a 1 GB memory module. Higher capacity memory modules are not supported by this motherboard.
No BIOS upgrade is available to provide support for 400 MHz DDR SDRAM memory modules.
