Hi, I am using the 1.5TB Hard drive, code is - TS15TSJ35T. I plugged it into the power and the computer and it's been on for about an hour now but I haven't been able to open the directory or to install it, more accurately, no icon has showed up to do that, any suggestions?

Hi Mouse, thanks for the suggestion, the box didn't come with an installation disc and after an hour the logo wasn't visible to open it, after looking on the TRANSCEND website I found the suggestion to switch the USB port, after doing that it worked fine, thanks again!

WARNING:when you replace a hard drive, you need to re install windows.
Step 1- unplug your computer and wait at least 24 hours before going to step 2
Step 2- find and take out all screws AFTER 24 hours.
Step 3- take off the cover. this may take time
Step 4- draw a diagram of the hard drive and all wires connected to it. use color codes.

Bios setup does not show sata HD windos xp find them

I have had problems like this many times with some of my IBM machines. What i find most often the reason the bios will not recognize them is because the hard drive has gone bad.
Troubleshooting 1. Unplug power cable from computer before doing anything inside of the computer. Unplug sata cable from motherboard and hard drive. Unplug power cable from hard drive.
Plug the sata cable back into the motherboard and into the hard drive. Plug the power cable back into the hard drive. Plug the power cable back into the computer.
Boot computer and enter bios(by pressing F8, Enter, Del ect..) Does the hard drive show in there now?
2. If you have another hard drive.
Unplug power cable from computer before doing anything inside of the computer. Unplug sata cable from hard drive. Unplug power cable from hard drive.
Plug the sata cable into the second hard drive. Plug the power cable into the second hard drive. Plug the power cable back into the computer.
Boot up the computer and enter the bios. Does this hard drive show in the bios? If so then i would say that your original hard drive has gone bad.

Hi all, I have 2 hard rives on my PC one is the slave, I was going to put in a plain old toggle switch to shut off power to the slave drive when not in use...But if the drive gets switched "on"...

It depends on the interface ("connector") of the hard drive.
If it's USB (external) or SATA -- the interface used by most computers today -- then hotswapping is possible and you can safely plug it in. Before switching it off though, make sure that the computer is not writing or reading any data on the disk.
If it's IDE, plugging the hard drive in or turning it off while the computer is running can damage the HDD or the computer.

It worked 2 hours earlier just fine and u went to plug it in and nothing is work. everything is together but it just wont even turn on. what else can i try?

Try using another cable and make dure it is short, under 18". You might also try getting a power supply for the drive, some computers have difficulty providing enough power for bus-powered drives, especially 7200RPM drives.

I have never had a problem with my external. I plug in only to my own computer. I had it plugged in to my computer for about 10 hours working on a project the other day, I haven't used it since then, that...

Hi kad,

I would try this. Unplug the drive, reboot your system, shut down your system, plug the drive back in, turn on and boot. If it is plug and play, Windows should see it and reinstall.

Hope this works for you.
