  • ldkempf Aug 05, 2008

cannot determine if it is the remote or television. Television needs to be on standby in order for the remote to work,,,but need remote to get telev on standby. The remote is not working at all,,, but not sure if the infrered light on television is the problem or the remote

Hi be sure the batteries you placed in are good - do lights flash when buttons are pushed? Is it possible you accidentally switched the remote to another device and not the tv? Do any lights come on or is it totally dead? Thanks.

Dear,
have you replaced the correct battery. if yes, then check was it working a little bit with the previous one.
if ans. is yes, then u have to change the battery of the same size eg.AAA or AA size cell or same type of battery.

if its not working with the previous one too. then its a remote fault. you have to see it keenly if there is any component leg is broken ...

the easy way to check your remote is camera either mobile camera.

just ON your camera and put your remote sensor in the camera range so that u can see the IR sensor of remote in the camera and press buttons one by one of remote.. u should see the emittion of light in the camera. if not your remote is faulty..

regards,,

dont forget to rate it plz.

You're saying that the remote is not working even you already replace the battery with a new one? or you're asking if you need to replace the battery?

If you can replace the battery that will be better so we can check if this only a battery problem, because if with the new battery still remote not working there can be some problem with the remote board probably some IC's are damage...

    Hi ldkempf
The best option i can tell you is that you need to open the case of the remote and check the infrared LED which might have been desoldered due to drop shock if the remote has been dropped on the ground. All you need to do is resolder it back on the pcb board and i am 100% sure that will resolve the issue because i have been fixing my remote for a couple of months now as my 2 year kid drops it very often.

Will the TV turn on using the power button on top of the TV itself? If not, open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items called capacitors on the circuit boards. If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should get it working again.I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!

LCD TV Remote quit working

Hi,
First thing, turn off the TV and unplug it for about 2-3 minutes. Remove also the batteries on your remote. Re-install the batteries on the remote and plug in your TV. Power on your TV using the remote. No luck?
Norcent may not be supported by a universal remote. If you just bought your unit new (maybe Best Buy who carries this brand) you are still covered by its warranty. Below are ways you can reach Norcent.
