Question about Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder/VCR
NO Read is an indication of a failing/dirty/dead laser. You can try using a DVD lens cleaner disc (assuming the drive can read it), or you will need to submit this unit to an authorised Panasonic service centre for further analysis, a quote on any likely part(s) cost(s), plus a second opinion. The chances of it being a simple dirty laser are slim - the DVD-RAM drive may need to be replaced (as the laser is not replaceable as an individual component) - but this might be extremely expensive/uneconomical. Up to you. If you truly want this working, the workshop quote suggestion may be a good idea; you can always decline it if it is too high.
