When someone say that his/her Xbox is having 3 Flashing red lights problem, It means it needs to be repaired. If you are using Cooler than it is not a cure but a prevention. You could have used cooler before acutally having the problem just to prevent your Xbox. But now you will have to either get it repaired from Microsoft (in case your Xbox's warranty is not expired, but one thing to note is that you will have to wait for at least 3-4 weeks to get back your Xbox) or you can Fix your Xbox's 3 Flashing red lights problem yourself with the help of DIY Video guide available on Internet. You can fix yourself without any technical knowledge.

Hi ! This is call the Ring of Death. You have to send your Xbox back for a free repair or an exchange. Those 3 lights mean that their is an internal problem whit your console and Microsoft have put a new waranty system that allows you, for 3 years since you have buy the console, to return it and the gonna repair it or exchange it for you, and all that, for free

Was playing Tiger Woods 09 on my 360 when the graphics all of the sudden looked very cheap and generic. I played a few more holes and then shut it off. I tried to turn it back on after about 5 minutes and...

Sounds like the infamous Xbox 360 "3 flashing red LED's" issue, ours did the same shortly before suffering 3 flashing red LED's. If you have one of the original Xbox 360's (without an HDMI port on the back) every single one was built with the wrong solder, so when it gets hot enough the solder melts and your graphics chip gets disconnected.
Is mad as it sounds, run the Xbox 360 for a bit longer until it dies completely because Microsoft have extended the warranty for that specific issue to 3 years! Once you have 3 flashing red LED's you can call the help-line in your country, go through a few diagnostics with them and then (and only then!) the call agent will tell you that as long as your Xbox is less than 3 years old it will be repaired for free.
Microsoft have not widely advertised this and indeed if you try to book service on line it will tell you that you have to pay, even if you click yes to the question "Does your Xbox 360 have 3 flashing red lights on the front?".
However, if you have a newer Xbox 360 message back and we'll go through further diagnostics.
Nick. :)

Hi,

Did you try disconnecting it from the power for a few hours?

3 red flashing lights

When you turn on the console, look at the light on the power supply. The power supply light should illuminate green even if the three lights on the Ring of Light flash red. If the power supply is button is red than you need to replace the battery or check the connections.

The three flashing red lights may indicate that there is a hardware problem with your Xbox 360 console. If you are experiencing this problem, you can submit a console-repair request online.

Hopefully your system is still under warranty.

3 flashing red light on console

uh well u got the three red lights of death it sounds like... and i also had those. while im no expert on this stuff, iv seen that u can put ur 360 sideways on a table, wrap it in towels(and i mean like 2 towels, wrap it up completely) and turn it on and leave it on for about 10-15 mins. just make sure a fire doesnt start in those 10-15 mins(believe me you dont want to call the fire company and tell them u started a fire wrapping ur game console in towels), ok then after u done waitin turn it off, unwrap it, and let it sit until it is cool, and try turning it on. it might work, its supposed to work because those three red lights mean that theres a malfunction in the 360 itself, such as wires or sumthin, and extreme heat may melt the wires and fix the problem, how i dont know but theres so many stories of ppl who have pulled it off

No game play

Sounds like you have fallen victim to the red ring of death, just like many unhappy xbox 360 owners (myself included). If it is still under warranty, give xbox supprt a call (you can find the number for your country at www.xbox.com) and they should arrange to repair it for free. If you are out of the warranty period, then they will rob you of some more hard-earned cash. There are cheaper DIY solutions that involve bits of rubber and towels and whatnot, but unless you are some sort of skilled electrician it's not worth the gamble in my experience!
