Question about Behringer Xenyx 502 Audio Live Music Mixer New!

1 Answer

I have the Behringer Xenyx 502 mixer, it's brand-new, and for some reason there's a weird buzzing/hissing sound in the main mix that will just not go away no matter what I do. I've unplugged everything, including the mic and it's still there. I can't get rid of it! Help!

Is the sound a low frequency buzz or high frequency hiss? With all the input level controls at the minimum position and the output level controls at the maximum is the sound audible?

Waiting clarification, don't hesitate to post.

Thanks and regards

The sound is still there when I turn the output levels all the way up (the phones and Main Mix is what I mean by that) and the input levels (Mic and Channel 2/3) down as far as they will go.

I can only describe the noise as almost static-like in it's quality... like an empty static that's always present. Even if I fiddle with volume controls of lines 2/3 or 4/5 (and there isn't even anything plugged into 4/5) the sound gets louder and softer.

And I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I've noticed that the LED lights above the Main Mix volume don't light up at all. I remember them lighting up at one point, but they no longer do. The blue power LED light lights up, but the ones indicating the left and right volumes of the Main Mix no longer do.

Your post for the first leds (points) from the level bars are not lighting, is very strange. Indeed these two leds must be on to verify that the output stage of the mixer is alive. Both symptoms make me think that your mixer has a problem at the output board. Just on more trick: instead of using the main output connectors use the CD/TAPE OUTPUT RCA connectors to check the results. If this output is also dead, definitely your Xenyx has a main problem.

In case of a problem or clarification or further details needed, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

How can I reduce white noise / hissing I'm getting over the mic on a Behringer Xenyx 1204 USB setup?

Hi, you didn't say if the mic actually passes sound? The C-1 is a condenser Mic & needs phantom power - switch on the rear of your mixer. If that's no help, what happens if you disconnect the mic, then turn the levels back up? Still hissing or gone? If it's gone then it's the Mic - must use a 3 wire cable, preferably XLR so it gets the phantom power. If the hiss is still there without the Mic then sounds like the mixer is faulty - try some of the other channels..... How loau is the hiss - just in the background or as load as a vocal "one, two" test? A few things to check anyway...... Good Luck!

Help behringer xenyx 1002fx !!

If you registered your mixer there will be a three year warranty so get it back to your local Behringer service depot. If not check the output from the PSU, if that's OK then I'm afraid it is very unlikey to be economical to repair. Sell it as spares and repairs on eBay.

How to connect it ?

Instructions
    • 1

Place your mixer in a location that will allow you to hear the sound coming from the speakers clearly. The best placement is opposite the speakers, centered between the left and right pair. Connect the power supply to your mixer.

    • 2

Connect the female end of an XLR cable to a microphone. Run the other end of the cable to your mixing board. Plug the male end into the "Mic" port of an open channel. These channels provide the preamps that will shape the sound characteristics of the microphone signal, processing them for output. Repeat the process for each microphone in your rig

    • 3

Connect one end of a balanced 1/4-inch cable to the left channel jack labeled "L" found on the "Main Out" panel. Connect another cable to the right channel jack with the "R" label. Connect the opposite end of each cable to the matching left and right inputs on you amplifier.

    • 4

Power on your mixer and amplifier. Test each microphone connected to the mixer for output.

    • 5

Adjust the volume of each microphone channel to create a balanced mix. Use the "EQ" knobs to shape the tone and cut out frequencies that are causing squeal and feedback.

Behringer Xenyx 502 Mic buzzing...PLEASE HELP

Get yourself anti-static spray and spray over the connector before inserting into the jack, most times its dust or static buildup which causes that buzzing sound and in other times replace your mic

Have a Behringer 1202 Xenyx FX, balanced cable into a new windows 7 PC and keep getting hiss. When I raise the gain, mic or master volume the hiss is more awful. my internet broadcasts sound awful. what am...

You are running your balanced cable into a windows 7 PC? What interface are you using... not the line input on the PC I hope as it is NOT balanced... it is Stereo input with UNBALANCED input. If you tie the mixer using a balanced to 1/8 inch balanced connector you will get plenty of hiss since you are driving the stereo channels oppositely. For high quality, get a good audio interface that runs on the USB of the PC. If you can tolerate a bit of noise but wire it correctly, then you will need to use two UNBALANCED lines out of the mixer for L and R and merge them to a stereo 1/8 inch plug for the PC.

How do I hook my preamp up to my computer?

Either through your computer's soundcard (1/8" mic input) or you'll have to get an interface such a an M-Audio FastTrack. There has to be something that converts the analog sound from the mixer to digital info that you're computer can utilize.

I have a behringer xenyx 2442 and the main output fader no longer works. Each individual channel fader now seems to go direct to the main mix and appears to bypass the main fader

The utput fader has probably been broken. If the knob takes a hit, it breaks the resistance element. The part is inexpensive but it takes a lot of work to access and replace the part.
