Hello ash,
This code means that the system software located on the hard drive could not be accessed sucessfully. You will notice when you turn the copier on it tends to take quite a while to get passed the "please wait" screen as it tries to find those files on the hard drive. Then the 602 code. This almost always means that the hard drive is dead or has been slowly failing for a while. You could try this. Power the copier off, then power it back up while holding down the numbers 1 & 9 at the same time. The screen will turn dark and you will see what looks like a game of TETRIS game playing. This defragments the hard drive. This may buy you some time. But I doubt it will truly heal the problem Hard drives die. The bad news is that you can't just put any hard drive in there. A store bought hard drive will not have the system software on it. And the utility that could load the software will not recognize an "off the shelf " hard drive as Canon loads a file on its hard drives that identifies itself to the utility so the software will load. That means a service call. I wish I had better news, truly. But at least you will know what's going on if you have to call a tech. I wish you the best. SPINAL
