Question about Toshiba Helios Grey 13.3" Satellite L635-S3104 Laptop PC with Intel Core i5-480M Processor with Wind... (883974681747) PC Notebook

I just bought my laptop last week and from the very start, the touchpad often doesnt work for a few seconds and I am able to move it again. A few times it just doesnt move at all unless I restart the computer. I talked with customer service about the problem. They had me uninstall the driver. Didnt work. I restored the comp to its original state and it still didnt work. They said likely its a hardware problem with the synaptics ps/2 port touchpad. Meaning that windows 7 64x and it arent compatible and they cant do anything about it. They suggested returning it if it bothered me alot. I can use an external mouse and it works great. Any suggestions? Any drivers that can fix this problem?

I run a computer buisness and seen this so many times...i suggest it would be a hardware issue and ask them to sort it out whilst it under warranty.
The only thing i could suggest if you know some1 with windows 7 32 bit operating systems disc is to try that,as mircosoft still hasn,t sorted out some bugging issues with hardware, but make sure you back everthing up,so you can reinstall if it doesn,t work then take it back..

Sometimes, computer's keyboard and touchpad are locked for some apparent reasons. However, there is a key that you can press there to make it work again. Press FN + F7. If it does not work, click on the link and follow the additional troubleshooting steps that I have prepared. The complete troubleshooting that I prepared can be found in the link below:

10 year old Seiko Kinetic (model5M62-0B00) blue face. Last week stopped and after some shaking started again but seconds moved in 2 sec intervals for a few hours. Went OK for a week and again last night...

After 10 years it will be likely that the Kinetic capacitor will need upgrading. Your watch is designed to tick in two second intervals to tell you the power is very low. The power button will work again when it has some power to show. Yorkshire Watches www, can do the upgrade for you if your in the UK. Give them a ring.

I have an 5742 laptop and it was working just fine then all of the sudden my touchpad and mouse are stuck. I tried the f7 key and it didn't work. I re-booted and that also didn't work, Please help??? Is...

It may or may not be a hardware issue.
I would shut down the computer, unplug the power and remove the battery. After waiting for about 15 seconds, I would put the battery back in, plug in the power and start the machine back up. If your touchpad is responsive again, then it's likely a software issue and you should try to find an update on the manufacturer's website. If it's not working still, then it's more likely to be a hardware issue. If that's the case, your warranty should still be in effect so you should get it serviced.

Touchpad stalls

I've had to deal with this problem on a number of laptops, not just Dells, although i must say that i've seen more Dell laptops having this problem though. The reason is simple, the wires relaying the input devices (keyboard and touch pad) to the motherboard of the laptop were either designed too frail, or the engineers didn't figure that putting them there would cause them to rub ever so slightly against the metal casing and will cause them to break up after a while. So basically when it's not working it's cause the wires and just moved in a way where they are not contacting, and when you hit hard enough, the wires touch and give the contact needed to work. And of course moving and shaking the laptop cause the wires to move ever so slightly also and cause them to start and stop contacting, just like flickering and on/off switch over and over. So if it is still under warranty, send it back fast before it's too late, as Dell has many service points around the world, and you can ship it to them via a courrier like Purolator or UPS just about all around the world also, so even if you did move out of country you can still get them to honor their warranty and would be a shame to have to scrap a laptop just cause the warranty passed out.

Synaptics touchpad not working properly

Hmm give this method a try. Turn off computer remove AC power adapter. Remove the battery and press the power button for 30 seconds continuously. This removes the static from the system. This process is called as Power drain. This works in most of the cases. Good Luck !!!
