It could be one of a couple of problems really, the first one may be that your analogue signal is being switched over to digital which is happening across the UK at the moment, buying a digital receiver would resolve this straight away. It could be a problem with the ariel connection to the TV, check that its all pushed in properly at the back of the TV. Failing this then its a problem with the TV set, the fact that the set produces a picture on other sources (dvd) implies that if it is a fault with the TV its with the ariel connection.

Hello, the remote control of my Sankey tv doesn't turn on the TV when it is off. However if we manually turn on the TV, the remote control seems to work fine, even the power button to turn it off. Any clue...

Your tv sounds fairly normal to me - there is a difference between a tv being switched off and being on standby. It is usual for a tv to need to be switched on manually and from there the remote would be able to switch it between on and standby.
Sometimes the "power" button of the remote only switches the set to standby and selecting a channel would switch it from standby...

Sky remote code for model UE40J5100AK

Programming the remote control
To control your TV firstly switch on the TV set, point the Sky remote at the TV, press the "TV" button on the Sky remote, then press and hold the "Select" and "Red" buttons together until the red light at the top of the Sky remote control flashes twice. Press "TV" again then enter the code for the TV listings below (Use the 4 digit codes from the left hand column), the red light will flash twice if a valid code has been entered. Press TV then the standby button on the Sky remote control, this should switch the TV set off, if so then press the "Select" button to store the settings. You should now be able to switch the TV back on and use the volume control button from your Sky remote.
If the TV did not switch off then it may require a different code, you can either start again using one of the alternative Direct codes below or continue with this process by continuously pressing "TV" then "Standby" then "TV" then "Standby" etc until the TV set switches off. This will provide a manual scan for variations within that product code.
If you are still unable to control your TV from the remote control see: Programming The Sky Remote or go to Sky's official website where you can see if a particular remote control version number will operate your make of TV, this can be found at:Skyplease remember to use your back button and come back to us.

Help!!!!! I'm housesitting and cannot get the Fujitsu flatscreen to turn on. I've changed the remote batteries, but the red standby button the the left bottom of the TV screen keeps blinking. Can you help...

1. Try using the on/off switch that is on the TV itself and use the other buttons on the TV for sound and channel etc.

2. You might need to try a replacement remote.

3. On some remotes you need to press the "TV" button and, then, the power switch on the remote.

This fault can be caused by low secondary supply voltages often caused by the value of capacitors becoming low and requiring replacements but you will have to have a technician.

'standby' mode and akb error number

AKB 66 in self diagnostic test means...TV goes to standby (shut-off) for AKB problem 66 times. AKB is White-Balance signal and it is not proper or maintained in your TV. So error signal produced and TV goes to shut-down state.
Regardnig Standby button, its available on remote only. If you push TV Power switch, TV will switch ON, push it again to OFF TV. Power Button on remote set TV in standby status and you dont need to push power button of TV itself.

Sharp 34" TV

Why shouldn't it be worth fixing? It's only 4 years old, my own TV is 15yo, I fixed it twice but it's still kick'n! You have a problem in the power supply, do you have electronic's know how? And test equipment? Soldering equipment? If so we could walk you through it, If not A repair man should only cost 80 to 100 to fix it.
