gopakumarg43, thanks for coming back: after I got the 5005 back from the shop that said the laser was faulty.I turned it on and the disc will NOW go into the unit, now as the disc is "loading" it goes to "fail" but before it was ejecting straight away But now thats stopped; since I got it back from the shop... If I close the disc mechanism without a disc it shows as "no disc" which is normal it wont even load a previous recorded disc I made with the 5005 so any other thing I can try would like to keep using the dvd recorder

Hello
According to your description, it seems that the disc tray is not loading into it porperly i thinks. Just do one thing. Without any disc in tray, close the tray either by using remote control or the front panel opn/close button of the system. If the tray closes first, and then reopens again without any command, make sure that the disc tray mechanism does not working properly, and the disc is not loading into it in place.
If this is alright, place a disc in the tray, set close, and push the tray with your finger slightly as it closes, and see whether it loads properly and play the disc. If so, loading belt inside the loading mechanism is worn out, ans should be replaced. In most cases, this may be the fault. Check it.
You can do the repair work, if you have some knoledge in electroncis, and its mechanical function. If not, get it repaired by an experienced service technican. Most of them can do this work, as it is simply a mechanical one. OK.

    Sir
Now your DVD players' mechanical [loading] function is correct.. I thinks that the laser pickup unit it it is its original, and haven't replaced so far. If so, it must also have this age of 5 years. There is a chance to get its laser emission to be go low. The laser beam is emitted from a laser light emitting diode [LLED]. It is a semiconductor diode, as usual as any LED, and its emission power will go down with time. if the lens that converges this laser rays gets dirty, the intensity of laser beam that falls to the disc will also decreses and reading swill be improper, and no disc display of any other error will be displayed.
Just put a cleaning disc in it, and play it for at least 3 times, and see whether it helps you or not. If not, replace the Laser Pickup Unit assembly too. OK.

Liteon dvd recorder lvw1101 starts reading the dvd then says it preparing the disc then it ejects it

The Optical head unit is faulty. The disc is not being read by the head unit laser and so conveys a wrong message which ejects the cd.
Replace the optical head unit assembly but with the correct procedure.

I have successfully made hundreds of play-able DVDs from my home video using this Liteon LVC9016G. Overall I like this machine although it is very quirky.

First, I can tell you the only DVD that can work is SONY DVD+R 120min / 4.7GB. NOTHING ELSE WILL WORK RIGHT. I have used some DVD-R: You can record on it since everything appears to work. The got-ya is you cannot play it at all. I am sick of this because I have re-used some tape but ended up with useless DVDs! Take my word for it, I have tried many media like Maxwell or Verbatin. These "other brands" are fine on the computer but not on this machine. I don't know what this machine can detect and see the differences in the media.

The good thing is that I was able to connect the DV port from my camcorder (Sony mini DV) to the dv port on this unit. Cable was not included so I bought one very cheap from eBay. This connection gives the best control as the LiteOn remote control can control the recording from camcorder to the DVD recorder and even make different menu items. This is not a published feature but I figured out. As I said I have made hundreds of home video on this unit and it is very nice (when it works.)

This is a common problem with the Lite-on LVW range of DVD recorders due to changes in the construction of more recent DVD R media. It can be solved with a relatively simple firmware upgrade.

Goto : http://r00.liteonit.com.tw/DC/english/download/index.asp

You'll need to have a blank CD and a CD/DVD writer in the PC you use to download the file.

Follow the instructions on the website to upgrade your firmware, this should then allow you to write to DVD's once again.

Won't Read blank disc!!

I my DVD-HR735 wont recognise any discs at times, and is getting worse. I've now discovered (out of frustration) that if I tip the front up to between 30-45 degrees, it will play all the discs it says were unreadable. I've started jamming three dvd boxes under the front of the machine when i want to play dvds.

Won't read DVDs

Hi, Ive just repaired several liteon's ( incidently they are identical inside to some philips models ). In most cases the non writing or non reading problem is caused by dust on the laser glass. You have to open the unit then remove the dvd drive then remove its covers and just give a wipe of the laser with a clean non fluffy cloth. If theres lots of dust in other parts of the drive then this will need to be removed also as it could easily get onto the laser when in use. Even almost new liteons can suffer the problem , it only needs a little bit of dust to top the laser shining onto the dvd , instead the dust just reflects the light back. Hope this helps.
