Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

We have a fellowes powershreder C-420 36-38 that will not shred, it feeles like there are teeth hanging loose on the underside of the shreder abve the catch bin. I'm thinking maybe a shear pin (s) on the drive shaft. is this repairable or is the unit shot ?

Hi,

According to your problem may be there is jam. It is repairable, so clear the jam with turbo jam clear. Make oiled with the motor and gear with shredder oil. If it doesn't solve your problem then replace the shredder head or blade.

I have a novitech shedder. The motor works but it will not shred?

It is probably a gear that is not longer connecting or is worn so will not turn the teeth. It is a little known fact that shredders need to be lubricated at least annually as the fine paper begins to clog the teeth over time and can over-work the motor.
Solution if this is the case - purchase a new shredder and some lubrication.

sounds like a couple of teeth on a drive gear may be broken. call Fellows at1-800-955-0959.

I have a Fellows Powershred ps 60cc and removed the shredder top to empty the shredded documents. When I put it back on, the red light will not go out and it will no longer work. It was working perfectly...

the shredder has a safety switch that closes when the unit is put back on the basket. check under the cutter head for the hole that has the switch and check your basket for the acuator put together so they will line up

Will not shred, but will go in reverse

Sorry don't mean to point out something obvious, but are you being shown any indication lights that the waste basket is not seated correctly in the bin or the head? If not, then you may want to try and check these connections anyway. Lights can burn out.

Broken plastic teeth

I suggest you just go buy a new shredder, otherwise, if you really want to fix it. That would cost you more then you go buy a new shredder.

Shreds halfway, then stops. Fellowes SB-95C

on the underside of the shredder, at the top of the space where the cuttings box is, there are 2 sensors, 1 at either end of the shredder blades. it sounds like these sensors could be either dirty, or defective. try to clean these with a cotton bud or similar. it may need new sensors, bu it is worth a try!
