Question about Peavey AmpKit LiNK High Fidelity Electric Guitar Interface for iPhone and iPod Touch

1 Answer

When the ampkit link is plugged in and the green light is on, it shows 'no input'. I can hear the pre-recorded tracks, and my patch cord works, but i can't get my guitar to play through the ampkit.

Best in this case is to get in touch with the company - there should be an "Info" panel, and a Feedback section where you can contact them directly.

What is the pre out used for

PRE OUT/PWR IN - (1) Effects Loop - Connect PRE OUT to an effects device input, then connect the effects device output to PWR IN. (2) Multiple Amps - Connect the primary unit's PRE OUT to the auxiliary unit's PWR IN. The primary unit is used to control all auxiliary units. (3) Recording or Reinforcement - Connect PRE OUT to sound equipment's input. Both jacks use a TS (Tip-Sleeve) standard type plug for connections. PRE OUT includes onboard tone shaping.

The reason it does not work is because the PV8USB only sends the main mix to the USB. You need a different sort of beast altogether to do what you are wanting.

While using korg m50 editor using usb data cable there is no sound from my lap.the sound is only from my head phone connected to my keyboard directly?

Are you connecting to the laptop and using it as a midi controller? You can record midi notes from the keyboard and send them to your laptop via USB using any midi sequencer program (reason, logic, etc). Create a midi track, select the input of that track as your keyboard, then hit record to play some midi notes. To hear what you record, you have to set the output of the midi track to whatever midi sounds or instrunents you have installed on your laptop.

If you are trying to record the actual audio sound the keyboard makes, use an audio program such as cubase, sonar, audacity, pro-tools, and either mic the keyboard, or connect one of the other audio outputs (1/4" TRS) to an audio input on your DAW, and record an audio track that way (as opposed to a midi track).

How to remove white noise in my ub802

It can be a number of things.

Bad ground, excess gain, excess number of mixer channels with no inputs, Make sure the mixer inputs you are going to use are the only ones that are up. Power supply noise- flourescent lighting noise, Clamp on ferrites on the power cords of everything can help reduce this. You can sometimes track the offending source with a battery powered AM/MW radio.

It can also be caused by going from a balanced output to an unbalanced input with some impedance differences.

I have and old Peavey Mark IV bass head. I want to know if it is possible to remove the crazy 8 or 10 pin footswitch input and replace it w/ a 1/4 in plug. There is only two wires running to this craz

2 wires plus ground needs a stereo 1/4 plug. Don't know Mark 4, but Mark 3 has 2 button fs with 3 wires plus ground. Schematic here: http://el34world.com/charts/Schematics/files/peavey/peavey_mark_3_bass_with_pa.pdf
shows 3 wires plus ground. Stereo plug does not have enough connections, only ground plus 2 wires.
Count the pins of socket and find DIN plug with proper pin-out for socket. Search google for DIN plugs.

Hi, I have this problem with reason: When i record a track the sound comes as very short staccato ,so all notes are semiquavers. What is the reason for this? Many thanks David

check the instrument's "show programmer" tab at the bottom of every patch you plug in. if its on every single sound fx that you use, then it's something else, but for the most part, here is where your staccato comes in to play. tweak the OSC 1 2 etc, then the "portamento".

i hope this helps, i kno how ugly reason makes there products to not work for the user's advantage.

I've just got an ampkit link and downloaded the free version of the app in my 2g ipod touch, the problem is when I try to play i dont get any input or output signal. I've checked my cable and the guitar...

If you touch the area where the input and output level bars are (lower right of the screen) it will open a page called "Input Options".
Make sure the input and output gains are up about 75%. Usually the output gain is about 5-10% lower. If you're getting a button that says "No Input" where the input/output level bars should be on the lower right corner, it is telling you that your iPhone headphone/mic jack is not sensing the line from the Amplink. Leave everything connected, and exit the Ampkit program and then start it again. It should reopen with the level indicators showing. These connections are all finicky.

How to connect it to computer mic input

Instead of using the mic input on your soundcard try using the auxiliary input. You will need a cord that converts from 1/4" mono to 1/8" stereo. That cord goes from out on your pedal to aux in on your computer. Use whatever you need to go to the input of the pedal.

Electronic drum kit, with USB out, problem

Sounds to me like you have the midi tracks outputting to the microsoft midi mapper or wavetable synth, which is built into the sound chip in your pc, and that this is conflicting with the mobilepre sound card - midi is just data, no audio, needs to drive some kind of synth. what you want to do is disable your internal sound card thru device manager, then just use the m-audio mobile pre as the input/output sound card in ASIO mode - you'll need to monitor via the headphone jack on the mobile pre or plug speakers into the line outs on the interface.

Then do tutorial 8 (in help files) on using soft synths - INSERT>SOFTSYNTHs creates a midi track and an audio track in a track folder.

Good luck.

The dude.
